2023.03.29 22:07 The-Sloan-Ranger 2012 Honda EX-L V6 89K Miles $13,900
I'm looking for a dependable first car for my 17 year old son. Mainly will use it for daily 5 mile trips to college and some light joy riding, he likes to keep it low-key and doesn't really go out that much. I would say the vehicle is about 85% of new condition from what I can visually see. The interior is leather and in really nice condition. Clean CarFax with 3 prior owners, but all 3 appeared to keep up with regular maintenance on the vehicle. No accidents. The dealer that is selling the car has agreed to get me out the door under $14k. Below is the list of maintenance items the dealer performed to get the vehicle ready to sell. With the market being so crazy right now, I've lost my bearing on whether or not this is a good deal. On one hand, I'm happy with the quality of the vehicle, the CarFax and the fact that the timing belt was just replaced, but I've never even remotely considered buying an 11 year old vehicle with 90K miles on it. I'm looking for feedback regarding whether this is a decent buy in today's market, or should I keep looking, or maybe give the market a little time to cool off? I need to stay under $14k and I need to buy something in the next two months. Thanks for any assistance y'all can provide.
- Vehicle serviced
- Wheel bearings checked
- Oil and filter changed
- Antifreeze/coolant checked
- Console repaired
- Battery cable(s) replaced
- Battery/charging system checked
- Safety inspection performed
- Timing belt replaced

2023.03.29 22:04 Lich_Hegemon Goblins Amok! initial draft, feedback welcome
Goblins Amok! is a system that I've been working on for a while now; it has gone through about 4 different iterations looking for something that does justice to the concept. I think I finally have something that sort of works, and I'm looking to run a playtest one-shot next week for some friends to see if things work out. However, before that, I was hoping to have some of you peeps to take a look at it to see if there's anything that stands out that I might have overlooked.
Introdution
In Goblins Amok! you play as a goblin, I am afraid. Stranded in a strange land full of awesome dangers, you and a group of like-minded critters will have to make your way through and survive the challenges that the world has in store for you.
I will not sugar-coat it: you are outmatched, outclassed, and outgunned by most everything out there. You are small, weak and smelly. Even a pigeon stands a decent chance against you. The only reason you are not extinct is that 'food' is not a qualifier that typically applies to you and most creatures would rather avoid you than approach you.
But take heart, you are a tough lot — about as hard to kill as cockroaches, really — and Lady Luck is most certainly on your side.
So go forth, challenge the world and run amok!
Attributes
Goblins have four attributes: strong, crafty, sharp, and proud.
Strong goblins can lift, can push, can hack, can jump. Crafty goblins can run, can dodge, can sneak, can build. Sharp goblins can react, can plot, can detect, can solve. Proud goblins can lead, can defy, can charm, can frighten.
Random: for each attribute, roll 1d4+1. Swap around two attributes, if you want. Selected: distribute the values 5, 4, 3, 2 or 4, 4, 3, 3 among your attributes.
Saves
Goblins have two saves: blood and spirit.
Blood is a goblin's vigour, is their health, is their ability to shrug off physical damage and exertion. Spirit is a goblin's will, is their bravery, is their ability to overcome fear and hopeless situations.
Blood is the minimum of your strong and nifty attributes. Spirit is the minimum of your sharp and proud attributes.
Luck
Goblins have luck to spare.
Luck gives goblins a chance to keep fighting, to keep exploring, to try dangerous and crazy things, to do incredible magic and impossible feats.
Max luck is equal to 14 - blood - spirit.
Bulk limit
Goblins can carry only so much gear and trinkets. That is their bulk limit.
Your bulk limit is equal to your strong plus 4. 1b on each hand, 2b in easy to reach places, the rest stored away.
Pride
A goblin always carries their pride.
A goblin's pride is a fae gift from their tribe. It is unique, it is mystical, it is irreplaceable, it is the best of its kind that the goblin could get its hands on.
Choose an item from your starting gear to serve as your pride.
Test rolls
To resolve uncertain and risky actions, roll a number of d6 equal to the relevant attribute. Count the number of dice that form part of a set of a size. These are your successes.
- no successes: failure
- one success: success at a cost
- two successes: clean success
- three or more successes: critical success
A set of a size is a group of dice with equal value and of a size matching that value: ⚀, ⚁⚁, ⚂⚂⚂, ⚃⚃⚃⚃, ⚄⚄⚄⚄⚄, and ⚅⚅⚅⚅⚅⚅.
Luck dice: a luck die in a test roll is a wildcard die that does not grant successes but can complete a set of a size, allowing the rest of the dice in the set to count.
Saving rolls
To avoid a potential danger, roll a number of dice equal to the potential harm that might befall you and compare them against the relevant save. You avoid as much harm as dice roll under your save value.
Luck dice: a luck die in a saving roll is a wildcard that allows you to avoid 1 harm.
Other mechanics
- Goblins have strength in numbers: When working in a group, the goblins can all pool their strength to overcome obstacles.
- Goblins love shiny things: For each bulk over the limit, a goblin gets slow or dull, and proud
- Goblins are not edible and kinda smelly: Non-goblins and non-magical creatures must succeed on a spirit save before engaging in civil conversation with goblins.
- Goblins are tough as nails: If a goblin doesn't immediately die, they recover with a new Scar. If a goblin does die, there's definitely another goblin nearby to take over.
- Goblins are utterly unmagical: To cast spells, a goblin must recruit a magical being. Even then, they must rely entirely on luck to succeed.
- Goblins are slippery: be it mud, skill, or luck, goblins are slippery. When in a fight, goblins can trade their luck in exchange for a clean escape.
- Goblins are unnaturally lucky: goblins regain their luck every morning at sunrise. Or, they can also choose to fail spectacularly to recover it.
One key part of the game that I didn't include yet is the conflict/initiative system. Combat is not the focus of the game but sometimes it's useful to examine the events of an important conflict (be it a fight, a chase, a debate, or some other critical moment) in slow mo.
The idea for now is to take turns acting (round-robin) and each player gets some movement, a slow action (attacks) and a fast action (movement and interaction), or two fast actions.
In the case of physical combat, melee weapons that need two hands deal 2 harm, weapons that need 1 hand deal 1. Bows deal 1 harm because being ranged already gives them and edge. Throwing weapons deal full damage because, even if ranged, you are throwing your weapon away.
Another thing I haven't yet worked out in detail is magic. The rough outline is you have to convince a magical spirit to aid you. Then, for casting spells you have to use your luck to survive your own magic and, depending on how well you do, use proud to coax the spirit not to abandon you. This would tie in with Goblins love shiny things, as it's a means to improve their proud score.

2023.03.29 21:58 kyrosnick Law Assistance on Stop Payment of a Check
Hello All. Having trouble finding out my options. I recently inherited a bunch of items from the death of a family member. I've been selling the items to various shops after getting offers. Saturday I took a gold watch to a local jeweler, it was the 4th one to look at it. They spent ~3 hours looking at it, inspecting it, testing it, and offered me $11k for it, issued me a check and off I went. Tuesday the check didn't clear, because they put a stop payment on it. The person at the shop called me this morning, and basically said his brother, who is the other co-owner didn't like the deal, and wants to back out, so they just stopped the check. They had no new information and all the reasons why they don't want to do the deal were the same info they had when they made the offer. They are refusing to honor it, and I'm stuck here with no watch, and no $11k. I looked into it, and since it was a stop payment, and not a bounced check, I can't seem to find any resources or help. The state attorney said it is only criminal if they intended to steal it, and since check didn't bounce Arizona doesn't consider this check fraud. Any advice or help on how to proceed? They admitted they are fully in the wrong, and shouldn't have made that offer, but they did, and now they want out of it. Besides review blasting them, maybe contacting the consumer news places, and stuff like that, any advice or help?

PRESENTING PETITIONS Daryl Harrison (SaskParty) 10:07:02
Petition against the NDP Liberal federal government infringing on rights, calls for Sask First policies etc.
Meara Conway (NDP) Petition to increase SAID rates for people with disabilities. Budget only gave them $1 a day. She reads a story about a recipient who is struggling to eat - at that point the SaskParty starts to heckle her, Speaker interjects and told her to hurry up.
u/10:49:40 The Speaker stops to tell Conway that she broke rules during the petition; she has to be brief and not make an argument or finger point, which he says she did by citing the increase in SAID.
Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Petition to prohibit conversion therapy as a discredited and abusive practice.
Erika Ritchie (NDP) Petition to protect provincial water supply. Cites 79 precautionary water advisories and 2 boil waters. Cites a SUMA resolution to investigate the impact of agricultural chemicals on municipal water supplies. Also mentions the affects of illegal crop land draining threatening ground water.
STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS Response to Provincial Budget 10:13:14 Nadine Wilson (Independant, running as Sask United) Scolds the government for giving themselves a pay raise while people are struggling. She says “Growth that works for no one”. Calls for meaningful tax cuts and rebates, put people before politics.
The NDP gave applause.
SaskParty heckles her; Don McMorris shouted something that I can’t make out, Paul Merriman made a hand gesture like a talking mouth and shouted something about a coalition. *Note he came in late for statements as well just before this clip.
Global Change Required to Meet Water and Sanitation Crisis 10:14:$6 Erika Ritchie (NDP) Talks about water advisories, some dating back several years. Cites Manitou Beach having toxic blue green algae in their lake, causing financial suffering. Related to UN world sustainable goals.
Observance of Ramadan 10:16:30 Muhammad Fiaz (SaskParty) Announces Ramadan, talks about muslim religion.
Purple Day Supports Epilepsy Awareness 10:18:04 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) Announces Purple Day
Z99 Radiothon for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Gary Grewal (SaskParty) Talks about Z99 radiothon for neonatal care.
Saskatchewan’s Record Population Growth Terry Jenson (SaskParty) Talks about population growth in the province. Takes credit for the work done. Brings up NDP in 2006 when the population was shrinking.
\NOTE also with the lowest retention rate of migrants, and the highest outmigration of the province.*
Responses to Provincial Budget 10:22:33 Ken Francis (SaskParty) Talks about the budget yesterday and how great it is. Notable, the U of R president was happy and said it was as expected.
\NOTE: They are in talks with University of Regina Faculty Assoc about cuts. Their president was in the Leg Mar 9 saying the exact opposite, and the minister said he was meeting with her after the session.*
QUESTION PERIOD Provincial Budget 10:24:04 Carla Beck, Trent Wotherspoon, Vikci Mowatt (NDP) vs Scott Moe, Don Morgan, Donna Harpauer, Paul Merriman (SaskParty) Cites a recent poll that 55% of Saskatchewan people are worse off this year than last, asks how the premier can fail to deliver any relief to struggling families. Has a $2B windfall and only gave tax increases, citing PST increases and the expansion on where it’s charged.
Moe says he is proud of the budget, and it resembles growth “that works for everyone”
. (He cites increases in funding, but they’re all near or under inflation, I didn’t fact check any, but at those numbers they can’t be increases). One of the items he is proud of is the $1 a day increase for SAID recipients. He then attacks the NDP for a 9% PST.
\Note: anyone new to the province or to politics, the Grant Devine PC government that was the predecessor to the Saskparty nearly bankrupt the province which ended up in them being voted out, and a few members criminally charged.*
Affordability and Cost of Living Trent Wotherspoon (NDP) vs Don Morgan, Donna Harpauer (SaskParty) Wotherspoon says that families and small business are struggling with a once in a generation crisis, and the government is doing nothing but tax and rate hikes. Morgan calls the NDP irresponsible, has no credibility, and is standing with their leaders Jagmeet and Trudeau who are tripling the carbon tax.
Wotherspoon mentions again that he is criticising the federal government, and again calls for PST hike rollbacks. Harpauer claims we are the cheapest province to live in and defends the budget saying that they have increased in many areas where the increase doesn’t meet the cost of inflation.
\Note: Jagmeet and Trudeau are in fact not the bosses of the provincial NDP. The carbon tax rebate increases with the cost.*
Support for Health Care Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty) Mowatt says that hospitals are near collapse, cites SUN president in regards to the issues, and asks Merriman to address. Merriman cites some dollar figures and the number of workers coming in (the provincial auditor has ruled that these are not enough positions). He passes this all as success. Mowatt calls his answer shameful, nothing to cover family doctors, no new supports for costs, team based care, or problems with the current model, and accuses them of giving up. Merriman says that they are looking at future solutions. Mowatt says that doctors have told her the new doctor compensation doesn’t work, and doctors are leaving the province as a result. Merriman says he rejects the question, while the NDP heckled, I couldn’t make out what they said, he says the NDP is running down health care workers (which is clearly not true) if you listen to the entire exchange.
Funding for Education Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty) Quotes president of Sask Schoolboard Association who call this budget falling short, investment that is needed, doesn’t even cover their inflationary expenses. Quotes Sask Teachers Federation president.
Duncan cites the numbers in the budget, defends it, compares it to $1.94B more than the NDP earmarked, then accuses the NDP of being against the education workers.
\NOTE: The last NDP budget ended in 2008, and didn’t have P3 schools to pay for - this is a poor comparison, and doesn’t include the per student cost or outcomes of education - all of which are worse.*
Tax Rates and Provincial Budget Nadine Wilson (Independant) vs Donna Harpauer Says the province is citing a huge surplus, asks why the province didn’t decrease taxes on the people in the province. Accuses the province of taking credit for the surplus, but it’s from increased taxes and resource prices. She says they are profiting on the plight of the people, and calls for them to even reduce the PST 1%.
Harpauer cites natural resources being high right now and volatile. She then says that she is copying the NDP cut and pasting their talking points. She then says that she doesn’t know what to say, then says it’s an indication of a strong and resilient economy.
I don’t understand the position, her two ideas seem to conflict. \NOTE: Volatile natural resources are the basis of crown corps that bring revenue to the province, like Liquor Board stores for example.*
POINTS OF ORDER First point of order was the speaker talking about Conway’s petition earlier, and info is in that section.
Jeremy Harrison (SaskParty) vs Nicole Sarauer 10:50:22
Says that Wotherspoon called finance minister as boned-headed. As asks him to stand, withdrawal and apologise. He cites a 2017 Hansard decision.
Sarauer says that he called the tax bone-headed, not the minister. The Speaker will review the record.
ORDERS OF THE DAY MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF BUDGETARY POLICY (BUDGET DEBATE) 10:52:00 Trent Wotherspoon (NDP) Wothespoon calls the budget out of touch, a government flush with cash who isn’t helping the challenges that people and business are facing. Goes on to call them disrespectful to the health care sector, doctors, teachers, education.
Cites closed hospitals, long wait times in ERs, people can’t get family doctors, addictions problems.
Attacks that they threw in the towel on equalisation, and calls it a fight that shouldn’t be let down.
Talks about internet access in rural and remote areas asking them to make it a priority and scrap the increasing dividend from Sasktel.
Cites producers being left out of proper compensation rights. Mentions that they delayed despite the NDP and federal government pushing.
Beef herds are in decline and products are being imported while families are losing herds that have generational lineage.
Calls for investigations into meat plants and their anti competitive practices.
Calls for work on the carbon tax to stop the burden on agriculture, and the NDP wants them to exempt grain drying and compensation for being stuarts of the land.
Ends in thanking the people and the workers of the wonderful province, and encourages everyone to work towards a bright future, and being squandered by the government.
Reverts to the previous complaint about the use of boneheaded, and agrees to retract it, and replace with the following: does not approve the budgetary policy of the government because it fails to provide cost-of-living relief for families, fails to make needed investments in health care and education; and further, that the Assembly has lost confidence in the government.
Lori Carr (SaskParty) calls for point of order 11:13:26. Says that Wotherspon referred to the minister of trade and export development the minister of jobs.
Wotherspoon stands up, says he’s perplexed but apologises.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) Talks about smugness in the house when talking about important issues in our community, and even towards guests that were in the room. She says people are noticing and they need to do better. She cites conversation with people in her riding worried about loosing their homes, and there’s no relief from the province in sight. Talks about hospitals being closed, some on bypass with only a note on the door that it’s closed, a baby being born on the side of the highway. And no real meaningful plan. She says that their constituents are calling the NDP offices as well, so she doesn’t know how they can continue with 32 new taxes and fees.
Premier has worst jobs record in the country, he’s flush with cash from potash and oil prices due to the war, and still no relief. 20% of Sask kids are living in poverty, and they have pet projects like the Sask Marshalls, Sask Revenue Agency and the finance minister fires up the jet to go for lunch.
Cites the health system near collapse, and the auditor has told them they are 1000 workers short, and they call it the most ambitious plan in the country in a display of arrogance.
Calls for health care support. The doctors are being forced to be business owners when they just want to provide care. The nurse practitioners asked for a ‘grow your own’ to let them work in the area that they live in, the government won’t address them. Said that the Regina General being closed was referred to as business as usual, ebbs and flows of the service while ignore solutions being provided by health care providers.
She talks about meeting requests like the one in Delisle where the providers asked them to all come, but the saskparty doesn’t show up and listen. Instead he says he meets people on the way home that he talks to (this is true, it happened several times this month in fact.)
Cites headlines about investment into mental health and addictions while those issues soar in our province without significant targeted investment or speaking to the professionals.
Socials services benefits haven’t increase in 8 years, and now they’re given a dollar a day. The Saskparty heckled her at this point. She cites it’s offloading the costs to municipalities and creating more homelessness and claw back benefits.
Says we have the worst job record in the country, but the Saskparty brags about those numbers. Their economy ranked last with a GDP shrinkage (we were the only province that experienced that, citations in earlier synopsis;) And being made worse by putting PST on construction.
Worst retention of people in the province (citations in previous dates as well, statcan has all this data).
Schools are organising bottle drives to continue, and the increases don’t even meet their previous needs let alone inflation. The Saskparty heckled this.
Fights that the budget doesn’t have targets or timelines.
11:36:54 Speaker rules on ‘boneheaded’ comment, tells Wotherspoon to withdrawal and apologise, then asks the Saskparty if they don’t have anything better to do than points of order.
Ken Frnacis (SaskParty) 11:37:28 Opens up with a joke that the NDP obviously hasn’t taken a tony robbins positivity course latley. Praises the minister of finance. Makes more jokes about the ‘longest serving opposition member’ was feeling very empowered by the crowd (referring to Wotherspoon). Says no wonder the confidence was redlining because of the support of the media. Goes on to make more jokes. Says that the NDP is by extension talking down the people of Saskatchewan, make some bad jokes about socialism and he feels bad for them. Cites eye rolling of the crowd at Wotherspoons tone about crissi after crisis every day (he is referring to a speech about cost of living crisis and hospital closures), and the tone will be better from the Saskparty side. He says that they will get their feedback at the polls, then there is shouting and an interruption.
From the verbatim @ time stamp 11:43:25: This is shocking
The Speaker :
Like, really. You know, I caution the member. Some kind of threatening gesture? Give me a break. I mean, come on. This is where it gets back and forth where it’s unacceptable. The pointing, you know, I mean, please. Please refrain from those types of things. Come on. AnThe Speaker: — Like, really. You know, I caution the member. Some kind of threatening gesture? Give me a break. I mean, come on. This is where it gets back and forth where it’s unacceptable. The pointing, you know, I mean, please. Please refrain from those types of things. Come on. And that’s for both sides, too. I mean, come on. I recognize the Government House Leader. Hon. Mr. J. Harrison: — Just seeking clarification, Mr. Speaker, on your ruling — I’m not sure if that was a ruling — on whether we can use hand gestures . . . The Speaker: — Sorry, you’re challenging the Speaker. Do you March 23, 2023 Saskatchewan Hansard 3425 really want to go there? Do you really want to go there? Yeah, you want to go there? Okay. I want the Government House Leader to stand up, withdraw, and apologize. I recognize the Government House Leader. Hon. Mr. J. Harrison: — I withdraw and apologize if that’s what the Speaker . . . The Speaker: — Sit down. I recognize the member from Kindersley. d that’s for both sides, too. I mean, come on. Ken Francis continues.. Attacks them saying it’s all fear and smear just like their federal ndp liberal coalition, a negativity vortex. Says that the statistics show that they’re doing well, and the NDP is saying they will make cuts but they won’t (where’s the liquor board store Ken?).
Goes on to call rural Sask the spinal cord of the provincial economy, excited for the future, agribusiness is working hard to fight the federal government on a new deal. Goes on to cite all the massive 10%+ increases in those areas, oil and gas potash, etc. and how their 9 trade offices (the ones Harper runs globally) are bringing more revenue. He says that teh biggest threat is environmental policies from the federal gov that the NDP are backing (they aren’t… they said that several times in this sitting alone).
Goes on to talk about socialism, protectionism, a bunch of arguments that aren’t even valid. I won’t waste my time synopsis of the rest of this speech, look it up if you care to hear what he says.
Scott Moe (SaskParty) 12:00:15 Talks about paying down deficit, the pandemic cost us $1B he says even after a generational drought which he calls sustainable investments. He claims second lowest debt to gdp in the nation. He praises the budget and keeps calling it sustainable - he doesn’t want to fire nurses and doctors because of resource revenue fluctuations. Goes on to say that he’s bringing in 1000 physicians etc etc.. these are all future state items that I can’t fact check. He relates a lot of these items against 2007 when the NDP was in power. Goes on to justify the pet projects lie the Marshall Service. I stopped recording it all because he isn’t providing data, he’s just making claims without citation of any kind, and most it things they are doing in the future.
Marv Friesen (SaskParty) 12:39:31 Praises the budget for no new taxes. Cites disagreement in the room debating in the treasury board and committee meetings, which he thinks is important to get the best decisions and outcomes. Critical of the NDP calling them tired and out of touch, and says he is tired because he’s in touch with his riding.

And that’s for both sides, too. I mean, come on. I recognize the Government House Leader. Hon. Mr. J.

2023.03.29 21:40 JacareAutopecas Renekton is outdated - Analysis of a main
Hey! My Nick in lol is Jacaré Autopeças, I play on the BR server and I'm main renekton with 1kk mastery. forgive me if you see any english mistakes
I've played a lot with the champion and I have a reasonably high elo to talk about the champion without fear of making a mistake. My intention with this post is to create a discussion about the current state of the champion in the game and how it has performed in the current meta. It is also worth mentioning that all this is almost a rant, since Riot stopped caring for this champion for a long time.
=============================================================
Renekton in theory
Renekton in his theory is a toplane fighter focused on earlygame, designed to have a solid lane against most match ups, which when he manages to get fed ends up becoming a very tanky splitpushefrontline, while at the same time dealing a lot of damage (in a way even explosive), because of this, dealing with a good fed renekton can be a big headache. Another objective of his is to dive offensively into priority targets with his W furiously, with the intention of causing a lot of damage and group control, which makes him a strong champion competitively, precisely because this usually works very well, when Renekton's team follow him, playing in harmony with him, following up on his engagements.
On the other hand, Playing Renekton is a race against time. If he doesn't end the game early, he becomes a less relevant champion, due to his high coodowns and difficulty in dealing with enemies with a lot of resistance. this is a very big problem for him, because he scales bad comparate almost all other toplaners, and has difficulty dealing significant damage to priority targets in lategame, since at the end of the game the armor of a fragile champion is no longer so fragile, due to the armor per level.
=============================================================
Renekton in Current Reality
Renekton currently has a lot of issues to deal with regarding long-term changes to the game and the meta, which make it very difficult for him to play.
Among the problems they face and how those problems affect the champion are:
1-Kit Aging Badly
Renekton Has the same kit for 10 years, and nowadays his kit is too outdated to be able to cope with the modern kits of other toplaners. It's like his kit has aged badly. it feels like current character kits are literally designed better over the old ones, as the new champion kits are full of shields, mobility, health-based damage, and more. And it's worth mentioning that when I say that I'm not necessarily referring to the complexity of the kit, as there are modern and simple kits that work very well (sylas btw). This issue with your kit has meant that over time your laning phase has become much less oppressive than it should have been, as your opponents' kit often has enough resources to deal with your switching mechanic (from engaging hitting and run), leaving renekton with laning phase more weak than should be.
2- Durability patch
As we know, there was a patch recently that proposed to make the game's champions less squishy, adding life and resistance to all champions. Renekton has difficult with durable targets before, which became a MUCH bigger headache after this change. It seems that nowadays if you don't itemize any anti-tank items in ANY match, such as BORK or serylda (regardless of whether or not there are tanks on the enemy team) he does less damage than expected. This caused even more decay in his lategame, which is actually weaker than it should be even for an early game champion.
3- Degenerate playstyle due to the kit
Renekton lost A LOT of his dueling power over time, precisely because his kit has aged badly to deal with other duelists (if he doesn't get a significant advantage he can't duel against almost any toplaner champion in the midgame). this caused his style of play to be lost, as he stopped being a strong fighter for duels. So, to work around the situation Renekton players started using him more as an assassin, using BORK and prowler's claw. As a main renekton I am very sad about this, because in the past I was a very tanky fighter who would dive into the fight with courage to fight up to 1v2 or 1v3, today I am just another assassin who explodes an enemy out of position and I retreat again because I'm on cooldown. And when I try to use renekton like in the old days, I end up having a performance much lower than expected... The champion is no longer the same as it used to be. I play Renekton and sometimes I don't feel like I'm playing Renekton.
=============================================================
conclusion
I think Renekton should have a midscope rework (like Ahri and Swain), as this would solve his competitive dominance problem and still improve the champion's quality of life.
what do you think? leave your opinion, thanks for the attention <3

2023.03.29 21:23 JRE47 Beating BRONZOR in Little Cup
Hello again, fellow PvPers, and welcome back to
Core Meltdown!
Last year, when we didn't have a new meta
every single WEEK, I got ambitious and launched a new series called "Core Meltdown" where I attempted to dive into recommended cores for each new meta. Honestly, as metas become one-week formats and so many other news items were being chucked at my head each week to analyze, it got to be too much, and I had to silently abandon the series. (I hope to bring it back more fully one day, but time just isn't there as frequently as things shift these days, I am afraid.) Anyway, for at least one format, it seemed more appropriate to revisit this than to flesh out a whole "Nifty Or Thrifty" meta overview as I typically do.
What is a "core", you ask? Simply a group of Pokémon that work well together on a team, often covering each other's weaknesses and responding well to the bigger threats in a particular meta. Sometimes a core will be defined as three (or even more, in the case of "show six, play three" formats like The Silph Arena) Pokémon that synergize together, but usually we're talking core duos.
That said... there will be little that is "usual" about
this particular article. Because we're talking about Little Cup... or as it's more
unaffectionately known: BRONZOR Cup.
So I'm actually going to mostly skip over discussion on cores and focus on the most critical role of any team you build: something that can crush opposing Bronzor. Typically I spent the last section of Core Meltdowns focusing on corebreakers... things that can bust up core duos or even trios. But today, that's going to basically BE this article.
I'll be honest: it was a little difficult to motivate myself to dust this off and crank this analysis out, because honestly,
Bronzor Cup brings on some PTSD for those of us who have ventured into it before. But that is precisely why I DID force myself to finish this, so that you, dear reader, have a little more knowledge and ammunition going into this format, hopefully making it at least a little less traumatic. After all, our only alternative this week is Open Master League, which for many can be even
more daunting.
So my apologies if parts of this seem a little drab or hurried. I did my best, and I really hope it's a help to you. Here we go!
EJECT THE CORE BRONZOR!
Out of the 400ish Pokémon eligible in Little Cup, there are only around 25-35 that beat Bronzor across even shield scenarios. ("Even shield" meaning both Pokémon in combat using the same number of shields: 0, 1, or 2.) And over two thirds of them are hard-countering Dark types. Yeah... there's a reason Bronzor is so hated in this format. With its Steel/Psychic typing (resists Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Rock, Steel, and double resists Psychic and Poison), stupid high bulk (right on the same level as Chansey), and annoying coverage move
Payback, Bronzor is a pain the back of the lap to deal with. It's left weak to only Dark, Ghost, Fire, and Ground, and its
Confusion damage and variety of charge moves typically deal lethal damage to all of those except for Psychic-resistant Darks before they can finish Bronzor off. Even Fire and Ghost types that normally tear into Steel and Psychic types are shaky when facing down "Zoro" (as I've taken to calling it), often succumbing to its neutral damage before their own
super effective damage can tear Bronzor down.
So, what CAN beat Bronzor in even shield scenarios?
- Naturally, BRONZOR can beat itself. More specifically, if you happen to have a #1 IV Bronzor (0-14-15, all the way up at Level 49.5), you'll beat most other Bronzors out there. It doesn't matter that you lose CMP to those Bronzors... you simply outlast them anyway. Easy peezy, Bronzor squeezy. However, be aware that this is not consistent across all shielding scenarios... CMP does matter outside of 1v1 shielding. It's also not foolproof, as a Bronzor with relatively high Attack can turn the tables, the resuts being so close that even just dealing 1 additional damage with each Payback can flip a win into a loss in a flash.
- On that note, there is wisdom in bringing a NON-XL Zoro to battle in this meta. In sort of an inverse from the high rank (low Attack) version, you will now sometimes lose with shields down to higher bulk mirrors, but you more reliably win in 1shield and 2shield matchups.
- One of the more reliable Bronzor counters that happens to also be quite good in the meta in general is DEINO. As with other Darks, Deino blunts Bronzor's Psychic-type damage and Payback, leaving only Heavy Slam as a neutral damage dealer. And even though Deino's Dragon Breath AND Body Slam are resisted by Bronzor, its Crunch connects for big, super efffective damage, and that makes the difference. It can even throw out ONLY Crunch and still win across other shielding scenarios. Do be cautious, though... it's quite easy for Bronzor to get to a bulkpoint that it halves the damage output of Deino's Dragon Breath (from 2 each to just 1 damage each). Against a #1 IV Deino (with Deino having about 67 Attack), that bulkpoint is just under 132 Defense for Bronzor, which will usually mean a non-XL Bronzor. For a more run-of-the-mill, "average" Deino (less bulk but somewhere around 69 Attack for Deino), that bulkpoint is instead in the range of 135 Defense, which is XL Bronzor but not TOO high above Level 40. Deino will USUALLY still win anyway, it will just require closing with a second Crunch instead of a cheaper Body Slam. Deino is pretty safe across all even shield scenarios... but safer if it has a little bit of Attack going for it, just to make sure it doesn't have its fast move damage cut literally in half.
- SEEL, specifically with Lick, is a very versatile Pokémon that also happens to handle Bronzor well in 1v1 (though that one does require some Icy Wind debuffing to reliably pull off) and 2v2 shielding... and can even sneak away with a win in 1v2 shielding if Bronzor isn't running Psyshock. That said, it NEEDS at least one shield, as Bronzor overpowers it otherwise (though MAN, Seel can still make it VERY close). Overall, this is by far one of the better ways to handle Bronzor AND clobber much of the rest of the meta too. Highly recommend!
- ALOLAN DIGLETT is more of a direct Bronzor counter, as it does merely okay versus the core meta (though it CAN at least take down Deino and a couple of other Bronzor counters). And it cannot beat Bronzor with shields down anymore now that Bronzor has Payback. (In the past, without Payback, A-Dig won that too.) But as long as it has a shield to throw at Payback, A-Diglett DOES still handle Bronzor, rather easily in 1v1 shielding and with a little bulk, 2v2 as well, even against #1 IV Bronzor. That said, as with Deino, IVs CAN wreck the party, as #1 IV Bronzor can outlast A-Dig in 1v1 shielding. Always annoying caveats with Bronzor. 😕
- SHADOW CUBONE can take out even #1 IV Bronzor in 1v1 (with good IVs itself) and 2v2 shielding thanks to having Bone Club (which is all it needs in 2v2 shielding) and Bulldoze (to close it out in 1v1 shielding). Similar to A-Dig, Shadow Cubone HAS to have good IVs to perform even decently against the rest of the meta, though; with merely average IVs it becomes a specialist that can only take out things weak to Ground. (High stat product IVs add on things like Jangmo-O and Wooper and becomes more reliable versus Bronzor across various Bronzor IV spreads.)
- ALOLAN GRIMER is pretty reliable and grinding down Bronzor... specifically with Bite. In that fashion, it can beat even #1 IV Bronzor in 2v2 shielding and with shields down... just NOT 1v1 shielding. At least, not against Bronzor running a Steel coverage move... it CAN beat Bronzor with Psyshock/Payback, which may end up the most popular variant this time around. (Do note that this can drop to a tie depending on how high rank the Bronzor is.) A-Grime is also decent against the core meta with Bite. Poison Jab would be better versus the meta and is certainly still viable, though it can no longer reliably beat Bronzor that way. Decisions, decisions. Perhaps I can make it all easier by recommending you just run the new Shadow Alolan Grimer if you've been lucky enough to find one; it loses Wynaut and Pawniard, but now much more consistently beats Bronzor in ALL shielding scenarios (even the 0v2!), and gains wins versus Vulpix, A-Vulpix, Amaura, Shadow Stunky, and Jangmo-O as well. Shadow Alolan Grimer is suddenly very interesting in this meta, folks!
- Also interesting is GALARIAN ZIGZAGOON, which is able to beat Bronzor in all even shield scenarios... as long as Bronzor doesn't have a Steel move, at least. Zoro with Heavy Slam can make things MUCH more interesting and flips 0shield to a Ziggy loss... but with good IVs, it can still hang on in 1v1 and 2v2 shielding, despite dealing NO Dark damage and mostly resisted Normal damage instead... Dig is eventually enough to turn the tide. And G-Ziggy performs very well in general here. The catch? That's a Level 50 Pokémon, folks. You CAN build a near-hundo without needing any XL candy at all, and while it loses a little of its luster overall, it's still viable, and still handles Steel-less Bronzor and (inconsistently) Heavy Slam versions too. I think it's worth building now with the recent-ish buffs to Tackle that it didn't enjoy last time through Little Cup.
- HOUNDOUR does not perform very well against the meta, but has the unique distinction of resisting ALL of Bronzor's moves, and is perhaps THE most reliable, consistent Bronzor counter across all even shield scenarios, regardless of Bronzor's IVs. Shieldless, 1v1, 2v2.) Houndour can even win with a shield disadvantage by winning the 0v1 shield. If you absolutely must kill Bronzor dead, then aside from the new Shadow A-Grime, this is probably the best way to do it. Just don't ask Houndour to do too much else for you beyond that.
- Also very consistent across various shielding scenarios is VULLABY. It takes out even #1 IV Bronzor in all even shield scenarios (0v0, 1v1, 2v2) and even 0 vs 2 shields!. (As long as it's running Feint Attack instead of Air Slash, at least.) The catch? You can only sneak it under 500 CP by getting a Level 15 one from LONG-past Research Breakthrough rewards (I think it was November of 2020?), and then have to trade it, as a Research-minimum 10-10-10 at Level 15 is still too big (as are obviously any Level 20 Vullaby acquired otherwise). The trade doesn't have to be crazy... even something like an 8-10-10 fits, and that's very easy to achieve via trading. Good luck!
- Not QUITE as good -- but much easier to acquire -- is fellow Dark Bird MURKROW. It whiffs in the 0 shield (though CAN beat Zoro without a Steel move), but takes the 1v1 and 2v2 without much trouble, though being nowhere near as bulky as Vullaby, it relies a bit on baiting a shield or two with Drill Peck along the way. (I mean, it CAN win with just Foul Play, but it gets a bit dicier.) The other problem? Unlike Vullaby, which is a full-on meta pick, Murkrow is more just a spice pick, doing very little beyond just countering Psychics like Bronzor.
- POOCHYENA at least contributes a little more overall than Murkrow, while still getting to Bronzor in the end across all even shield matchups (0v0, 1v1, 2v2), needing only Snarl and Crunch to do it, too. ALSO neat: Poochy can win the 0v1 and 1v2 shield as well! That said, you definitely still want Poison Fang on it to aid in wins over stuff like Nidoran and Wooper... and soften up a lot of other things even in losing matchups. In this format, losing the battle but contributing to the overall war by hobbling the opponent on the way out is still a victory.
- PURRLOIN is similarly efficient in its dominance over Bronzor, winning the 0v1 and 1v2 shield, not to mention all even shield matchups. And it's also more impactful across the core meta. It's low in this article, but high in viability as one of the best Darks in Little Cup overall.
- Here's a fun one you may not have considered: SCRAGGY. It has to be in the lower teens in level to fit, but it's been in the wild a few times so that's realistically possible this time through Little Cup. And with Acid Spray, it is capable of beating Bronzor in 1v1 shielding, and it wins in much more straightforward fashion in 0v0 and 2v2 shielding. It has a small but notable role versus the rest of the meta as well, knocking out a couple of Bronzor's other troublesome counters. Fun little spice option here.
- It's a tough trade to pull off, but yes, a hatch-level SANDILE can squeeze under 500 CP, and does alright with itself in the meta. But what it does especially well is slaughter Bronzor, at least in all even shield scenarios.
- Of course, one way to beat Bronzor is to just roast it with Fire. Your best options would appear to be VULPIX, which can't quite win with shields down (unless it has top flight IVs!), but DOES win 1v1 and 2v2 shielding running away. GROWLITHE also beats Bronzor in 1v1 shielding (Shadow too), though it does get uncomfortably close. Regular Growlithe has more breathing room in 1v1 shielding, but just cannot finish off Bronzor before it reaches Payback with shields down. Both Growlithe and Vulpix are pretty solid against the entire meta, too. And while other Fires like Tepig and Litleo and Litwick can sometimes take out Bronzor as well, they are inconsistent at best, especially in 0-shield and 2v2 shielding. That Confusion damage is just too much (and Psyshock or especially Payback in shieldless matchups).
- And then about the only things left are high damage glassy Darks. SHADOW STUNKY simply has to have a shield to throw up, and it can just Bite Bronzor to death and pocket enough energy for one and a half Crunches to throw afterwards. (And it can chew through a chunk of the meta too.) CARVANHA can also Bite a bunch of stuff. It's far too flimsy to outrace Bronzor with shields down, but wails on it with ever-increasing power (thanks to Poison Fang) in 1v1 and 2v2 shielding. The best part about these two is that Bronzor can even be sitting behind two shields and it just doesn't matter... fast moves will do it in eventually.
GOT ANY OF THEM CORES?
As this series used to be about Cores, after all, I want to wrap up with a handful to consider, based on feedback from
GO Battle Log. I'm just going to list them and recommend you check out GO Battle Log and
PvPoke's Team Builder for Little Cup to round them out with a third.
Here we go: cores using at least one of the above, in no particular order:
That's just a handful to get you started, but I highly recommend checking GO Battle Log every day or two for ideas, as they keep track aa the meta shapes and reshapes throughout the week. And of course, see what ideas YOU can come up with! (And how many of them end up with Bronzor itself as your third. 😈)
Thanks as always to my friends
PvPoke for their awesome resources, and to
GO Battle Log, and thanks to YOU for reading. I hope this helps you handle the menace known as Bronzor!
As for better understanding of the
entire meta, I refer you to my massive meta and budget review of Little Cup,
"Nifty Or Thrifty". That was pushed out last year, and the meta HAS changed a little bit since then, but that should still give you a good overall idea of what to expect. (And I still hope to tweak/update that a bit over the next day or so.)
Until next time, you can always find me on
Twitter with regular PvP analysis nuggets, or on
Patreon.
Best of luck in Little Cup, or whatever format you find yourself in this week. Stay safe out there, Pokéfriends, and catch you next time. Try to have fun!

2023.03.29 21:23 JRE47 How To Beat BRONZOR in Little Cup

2023.03.29 21:20 Few_Database4386 Will my renter’s insurance cover this?
A water pipe burst directly above my storage room just outside of my apartment damaging the contents inside. I had a soft fabric luggage bag with a lock on it and inside was my shooting range gear. This included 2 handguns and an ar15 with ammo and hearing protection valued at around $1750 give or take. The bag and the contents were completely soaked along with other items in the storage unit. How does renters insurance deal with firearms claims and will they see this as damaged?

2023.03.29 21:20 aeouo [Reality TV/Mobile Games] A massive blunder, a temper tantrum, an allergic reaction and an 8-year-long failed Kickstarter project. The story of Erik Reichenbach, Survivor’s ice cream scooper from Hell
Prelude
In 2000, CBS kicked off the reality TV craze in the US with the first season of
Survivor. The basics of the show were:
- The 16 contestants (or "castaways") were split into two tribes and marooned on an island
- Each episode had an immunity challenge. The winning tribe was safe (or "immune"), while the losing tribe had to vote somebody out
- When there were 10 people left, the tribes merged and became one tribe
- The immunity challenges became individual after the merge. The winner was safe and the tribe could pick anybody else to vote out
- Once there were 9 castaways left, anybody voted out became part of the jury. The jury would vote between the final 2 players left in the game to decide on the winner, who would win $1,000,000
CBS instantly had a hit on their hands. Fans were fascinating as contestants stopped voting based on survival skills or merit, but instead based on strategy and alliances. The season 1 finale was the 2nd most watched TV episode of the '00s (only behind the finale of Friends) and while viewership has dropped somewhat, it remains one of CBS's flagship shows to this day. However, this story about one particular contestant starts back in 2008.
Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites (2008)
That's Jeff Probst, he's just standing there!
In 2008, Survivor was casting its 16th season and decided to experiment with the format. Production decided that the theme of the season would be
Fans vs. Favorites, where half the contestants would be returning fan favorites, while the other half would be fans of the show who would get the opportunity to play against some of the very people who had inspired them to apply.
Among the Fans was Erik Reichenbach, a 22 year old ice cream scooper. He was a young, naive, enthusiastic goofball and absolutely loved Survivor. One of the best moments to demonstrate this is when he made it to the family visit (where Survivor flies out a loved one to visit for each of the remaining contestants) and got to see his brother. First he enthusiastically points out that he grew a beard during the month he has been on the show. Then, he remembers he's on Survivor and is living his dream, so he literally points this out by pointing at the host and yelling,
"That's Jeff Probst, that's Jeff Probst. He's just standing there!". Moments like these and Erik’s good-natured attitude endeared him to viewers, many of whom hoped to see him win. Erik was also from the town of Hell, Michigan which prompted fans to give him the nickname "The ice cream scooper from Hell", since it was literally true and a humorous contrast with his upbeat personality
Despite a number of twists and turns in the game, Erik managed to reach the final 5. The other 4 remaining players were a group of women known as "The Black Widow Brigade" - They had successfully duped several men during the game and voted them out. The group’s name was coined by one of the group’s members, Parvati Shallow:
It's like the Black Widow Brigade. Like, all the girls are coming together and we're spinning the guys around as much as we can. Just spinning them and spinning them until they don't know which way is up. And then we're devouring them one at a time.
Erik was the last man standing and he was outnumbered. But, things were not yet hopeless for him. He was young, athletic and he had a decent chance to win challenges that would keep him safe from being voted out. If he made it to the end, he was well liked enough that the eliminated contestants could vote for him to win. If he won the remaining three challenges he’d be in the finals and he could always try to turn the women against each other as well. It was a fairly simple and straightforward strategy. Or it should have been.
A Life Lesson
(
Note: The rest of this section is covered in detail by this
compilation of scenes in the show and
this article which has a ton of behind the scenes info. The article was written in 2019, 11 years after the episode aired, which shows just how impactful this one episode was.)
Before Erik made it on to Survivor, he had to submit an audition tape.
The tape is mostly him highlighting his ice cream scooping job, hobbies and personality, but it does a great job showing off all of this. In retrospect, the most memorable line has to be when he's trying to pitch why he'd be good on TV.
I will do whatever I need to do to get to the top of the game, I will do that... And you know I'm stupid. You know I'm young and stupid. Young people are notorious for doing stupid things.
It was a rare case of real-life foreshadowing.
Before the Final 5 challenge, Erik had been somewhat wishy-washy and inconsistent with what he had told the remaining women. He had strategy conversations with many of them where he agreed to their individual plans or pitched ideas to vote out one or another person. In what was probably a combination of wishy-washiness, indecisiveness, desperation and the short-sightedness of youth, Erik did not have a consistent plan and apparently didn’t consider that the women might compare notes. They did, which Erik noticed, "I've been telling these girls all these different things and I walked up on all three of them talking to each other and I'm worried. I'm definitely worried". At this point Erik knows that he needs to win the next challenge to keep himself safe, otherwise he’s almost certainly going home.
Fortunately for him, the challenge was physically demanding. The players had to run up and down the beach, digging up puzzle pieces under the hot tropical sun. Erik’s fitness paid off, as he handily won the challenge (
part 1 and
part 2) and the immunity necklace to keep him safe from the next vote.
After the challenge the women were commiserating about the fact that one of them would be leaving, leading to what is still one of the most famous conversations in 44 seasons of Survivor:
Parvati: If he didn’t have that necklace he’d be gone
Cirie: I wonder if he would give Nat his necklace? Probably not, huh…
Cirie to Natalie: You think you could talk him into giving you the necklace? …
Cirie: Nat, tell him if he were to give you the necklace, that would redeem him and we would vote for Amanda.
Natalie (incredulous): Who would fall for that? I feel stupid listening to you guys right now.
Natalie and Cirie proceeded to individually make their pitch to Erik. It was essentially 1.) Nobody respects him because of his wishy-washiness, so he won’t get any votes to win if he makes the finals and 2.) His lies have made his words meaningless. The only way for Cirie to believe him is through actions (like giving up his necklace).
Following a
somewhat brutal tribal council where the women laid into Erik for being untrustworthy, Jeff Probst presents the same typically straightforward choice he does before every vote, but which has incredible significance tonight. “Erik, you have the individual immunity necklace. As always, you can give it up to somebody if you choose to. Otherwise, it is yours and you are safe tonight.”
Erik begins to give a small speech and, to the astonished faces of everybody at tribal council, ends it with 8 of the most memorable words in 600+ episodes of Survivor: “I want to give individual immunity to Natalie”. He gives the immunity necklace to Natalie, Jeff explains that Natalie is safe and that Erik can be voted for, then it is time for the vote. Survivor usually leaves you in suspense about how each player voted, but not this time. The show immediately shows all the women voting for Erik in disbelief that their plan worked.
As Erik is getting up to leave, he good-naturedly says, “You guys drive me crazy… I should have known better”. After he leaves, Jeff turns to the remaining 4 women and summarizes the remarkable moment by simply stating, “I think that’s what you call a life lesson”.
The Dumbest Survivor Ever
Although it wasn’t shown during the season, Parvati had a joke with another contestant James (who had made his own notable blunder the previous season) that James was, “The dumbest Survivor ever”. In referencing the in-joke, Parvati and James unfortunately passed the title to Erik.
Parvati (as she’s voting for Erik): You're crazy! You'll officially go down as the
dumbest Survivor ever! In the history of Survivor. Ever.
James (raising his arms after Erik is voted out): I have lost my reign as dumbest Survivor ever!
Fans were mostly shocked by Erik’s decision and many were particularly disappointed because they were hoping he would win. While many agreed with Parvati and James, the reaction was perhaps not as brutal as we might expect now-a-days. Survivor players weren’t really expected to engage with social media back then (Twitter was only 2 years old at this point), so Erik fortunately didn’t have to deal with an internet mob, even though every fan was talking about his decision.
Erik: In the days right after it aired, I started being approached by Survivor fans, and everybody was pretty nice. They would say, "That was a really dumb move," but they didn't say it to my face or anything terrible. To me, they just said, "You're a really good kid, but you got played."
Jeff Probst: I don't think I appreciated at the time what those four women did. I think we labeled it a really good move, and then everybody called Erik the dumbest Survivor player ever. And I don't think that does either of the parties justice. I don't think Erik was a dumb player. I think Erik played a great game, and he got outplayed. And I don't think anybody fully appreciated how well those women played that. When you go back and look at it now, if that happened today, people would label all four of them instant hall of famers.
The article about the episode (which was published in 2019, or 11 years after this episode), summarizes the impact and long lasting nature of the moment on the fandom:
The first time Erik handing over his immunity aired on TV was certainly not the last. Whenever any sort of Survivor montage pops up on the show looking at the famous moments, biggest blindsides, or egregious errors over the years, Erik's immunity giveaway is always there. At this point, it is likely the most-aired Survivor moment ever, meaning Erik has to relive it constantly.
If you have any doubts about how significant this event was or how frequently it was replayed in the years that followed, here’s an
8 minute montage of it being brought up Erik claims he doesn’t regret it and remains surprisingly good natured about his nationally televised blunder:
If any life lesson came out of this, it was that failure is human. Failure is what we do. You're going to fail. And you're going to fail hard sometimes. The lesson is not, don't do that again, or be weary. I'm not going to stop trusting people. I'm not going to stop believing that people have good intentions… Maybe other people would have something happen and they'd be like, "I'm never going to let that happen again." Or they'd get really bitter and dark about it. But I can't live like that, and I don't think that's the lesson that I'm supposed to learn.
Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs. Favorites 2 (2013)
I am the author of my own fate!
5 years after Erik’s infamous decision to give up immunity, he finally got an opportunity to redeem himself when he was cast for Survivor’s 26th season, which was the 2nd time Survivor used the Fans vs. Favorites theme (this time with Erik as a Favorite). Fans were excited about Erik’s return. He was beloved in his first season and people were curious how he’d adjust his gameplay this time around given his mistakes the first time he played.
The season started well enough. The Favorites tribe won the majority of challenges, which meant they didn’t have to vote many people out. Erik connected with one of his tribemates, Brandon Hantz (they may have bonded because Brandon was also voted out after giving up immunity in Survivor’s 23rd season). Unfortunately this meant Erik was involved in another of Survivor’s most infamous moments. Simply put, Brandon did not get along with another tribemate Phillip. Following an argument, Brandon
threw a tantrum and poured out all the tribe’s food, while yelling things like, “I am the author of my own fate!” and “Now vote me out, bitch!”
The behind the scenes story is that Brandon was effectively ejected from the game, but for the purposes of the show they still wanted to have a vote. They had the
Favorites tribe forfeit the next challenge and vote Brandon out there. It is a bizarre scene, where Jeff pulls Brandon to the side and gives him a shoulder massage to prevent a fight from breaking out. Viewers had some fun with the fact that
Erik was the one that handed immunity to the Fans tribe, but the episode is widely regarded as one of the worst and most uncomfortable episodes to watch.
Brandon was
unrepentant for his actions stating, “It was awesome. I feel like a man, not a little boy, anymore.” and “I’m the biggest hero to ever play Survivor”. There would definitely be enough to write an entire HobbyDrama post on Brandon Hantz (whose uncle, Russell Hantz, may be the most polarizing contestant in the history of the show), but this is where he leaves Erik's story, so I'll leave it there.
Hold on to your seat
While Erik had lost a friend in the game, he managed to essentially fly under the radar strategically and once again make it to the end game. Many fans of the show were disappointed though, Erik was getting very little screentime and not much was shown about his thoughts or strategy. Erik later explained that he was being deliberately non-strategic on the island to be less threatening so that the other players wouldn't vote him out. It may have been a good plan, but it wasn't necessarily good TV.
Anyways, Erik's plan was paying off and he made it to the final 6. He was working with a number of members from the Favorites tribe who were planning to vote out Eddie (who, I suddenly realize has some good parallels with Erik’s original season, since he was a young athletic male fan who was
in over his head strategically). However, some of Erik’s allies betrayed him and voted out his ally Brenda instead. It seemed like a run of a mill blindside, but things with Erik never end up being simple.
At the beginning of the next episode (which was also the finale), they opened a few minutes after tribal with Erik sitting on the ground with his head in his hands. He said he was dizzy and the world was spinning. Jeff Probst and a medic came out to assess the situation. After taking Erik’s vitals, the medic decided that they couldn’t risk letting Erik continue, so he was pulled from the game (
part 1,
part 2). 5 years and 10 seasons apart, Erik once again ended up in 5th place.
Erik eventually
released a video explaining what happened in more detail. Earlier in the season, he had cut his shin. Initially it had looked fine, but after a bit it started to get infected. At the beginning of tribal council, the Survivor medical staff gave Erik penicillin to treat the infection. Erik was unaware that he was somewhat allergic to penicillin and when combined with the fact that he was malnourished/dehydrated from being on Survivor for a month, he had a negative reaction. He was so disoriented at Tribal Council, that he was just focusing on not falling off his chair because he didn’t want to be pulled from the game. He also didn’t realize that Brenda had been voted out, and instead thought that another contestant (Sherri) had been eliminated, so he was really just not with it. He vaguely remembers talking to the doctor, then being in a van, then finally woke up in a hospital with two IVs in his arms. He ended up being fine, but it was weird he got 5th again (insert “if I had a nickel” meme).
Usually, immediately after the finale they have a reunion in LA where Jeff talks to the players about the season. They didn’t invite Brandon for obvious reasons, but to disguise that fact, they put all the players who had been voted out before the merge in the audience. Considering they had flown to LA and invited family members,
they were not exactly happy. Jeff also did not talk to Erik at all during the reunion, despite the fact that he was medevaced in the finale. He was pretty unhappy with the producers
excluding the early players, not properly explaining his injuries and not letting him speak at all, saying “Tons of people were upset. After a while it became a farce”.
The reunion episode
is widely considered to be awful by fans, who were also generally disappointed that the season showed relatively little of Erik despite making it to the finale.
Kickstarter - Islands of Chaos (2013-2019)
Note: Before I begin this section, I want to say that while some of this drama happened on Reddit, the drama is old and Reddit has rules against brigading. Don't post in old threads and don't contact the people involved.
In December 2013, Erik and his friend Billy decided to combine his passion for Survivor and graphic design into a mobile game called
Islands of Chaos. He needed funding for the game, so he
turned to Kickstarter, with a goal of raising $8,000. The pitch video described essentially a mobile game version of Survivor. It showed mini-games, character selection, a voting interface and the description promised inventory and chat systems.
In 2023, people might have been more skeptical about a game that requires 16-24 people to stay active for an extended duration, as well as unfiltered chat between players, but fans were excited at the time. It seemed like one of Survivor’s biggest fans was giving the rest of the fans a small taste of what it would be like to be on the show. The Kickstarter eventually raised $8,936 from 127 backers. A majority came from 4 backers who each donated at least $1000.
Initially, the goal was to have the game done by “late September or early October 2014”. By September, that date had slipped to
late November or early December.
November is the first date that the WaybackMachine has an archive of their
development site (The site looks awful with menus overlapping text when I’m in fullscreen. You may want to reduce your window size to read it). You can see some of the artwork there and discussions of the technical stack, but it’s unclear what the actual state of the development was.
On December 26, Erik posted an update saying the project would be severely delayed and that
Billy was essentially fired,
Billy refused to include major working elements of the game that made it truer to the experience we initially pitched to Kickstarter. His continued efforts to turn the game into something other then what it was concieved as recently grew to be too much and Billy had to be released from working on the project.
Erik mostly had
the community's support at this point, with fans mostly deciding it was better to have a delayed product rather than an incomplete or rushed one.
This started to change for some people once Billy posted in the Kickstarter comments:
This update is a surprise to me and I'd like to ensure you all that while Erik suddenly cut communications, changed our password and released a Kickstarter update without my knowledge, the game is still a 50/50 partnership as it always has been.
While it's bold to claim to be in a 50/50 partnership with the person who just said they fired you, Billy seemed determined to push forward. He also stated the project would be submitted to the app store “in the next few weeks”
On December 31, Billy apparently
updated the website to say,
Islands of Chaos has been delayed indefinitely due to a misplaced fear of inadequacy that has manifested itself in the form of a surprise lawsuit from the game's artist. Weeks before submitting IOC to the app stores, he has changed our kickstarter password, claimed our partnership never existed and stated I no longer have permission to use his art for a game release or this website.
The game’s artist of course being Erik. Erik claimed he would release a statement addressing this, but as far as I can tell, never did.
In January,
Erik posted to the kickstarter that the project had a new developer named Josh.
In April, he announced a new development blog, but the archived versions of the site don’t go back that far. The old dev blog was still controlled by Billy and displayed the same message about the lawsuit from December.
At some point in late August or early September 2015 Billy
updated the message on the original dev blog.
UNFORTUNATELY ISLANDS OF CHAOS WAS CANCELED WEEKS BEFORE SUBMITTING TO THE APP STORE AFTER A SERIES OF SURPRISE LAWSUIT THREATS BY THE GAME'S ARTIST. I WORKED EVERY DAY FOR A YEAR TO BRING THIS GAME TO LIFE AND NOTHING WOULD DISAPPOINT ME MORE THAN BEING DENIED THE RIGHT TO SHARE IT WITH THE KICKSTARTER BACKERS WHO WERE SO KIND TO US. UNFORTUNATELY MY ARTIST GOT LAWYERS INVOLVED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AND WAS SO UNSATISFIED WITH HIS WORK HE HAS FOUGHT ANY ATTEMPTS I'VE MADE TO SHOW THE GAME IN ANY WAY.
This appears to be the last message ever posted on the original development blog.
There are a few updates posted to kickstarter, over the next few years, but they are all only available to backers. The first message I can find in the WayBack machine on the
new dev blog is from January 2017. Erik states that he is teaching himself unity and C# to do the development on the game himself. There’s no mention of Billy or Josh. Erik continues to make major changes to the design, “While the original scope of the project asked for players to be simple 2D comic characters against a flat backdrop, since that time they have evolved to accommodate an explorable 2.5D Isometric Environment“. In bold, it says, “There is still a lot that is left undone simply because the full scope was not understood at the time of conception”. That feels like an understatement.
By March, there’s an update with videos (since deleted) showing player creation, island movement and minigames. In September, Erik still shows optimism but acknowledges some challenges,
After a grueling summer, the majority of starter character animations have been mapped to sprite sheets, the items have been organized by type and purpose, and the database is finally being built. As a small team of developers, we couldn’t have picked a more difficult project to work on for our first foray into mobile gaming – but the challenge is worth the effort!
In August 2018 (4 years after the initial expected completion date),
Islands of Chaos Development Build 1.0 is released. It can still be downloaded and launched, but it requires a login to do anything and the servers supporting that no longer exist.
In
November 2018, Erik announces that they’ve decided to change the project to fully 3D. This is 1.5 years after saying it would be 2.5D.
Two months later, in January 2019,
Erik finally pulls the plug after 5 years of development. He lists the 3 major factors for the failure of the game as
- The funds raised were far too low to create what was promised in the Kickstarter
- The game itself is much more complex, unique, and dynamic then first anticipated
- As an artist, I am only a small part of the equation when building a video game.
The
survivor post linking to the cancellation has some people calling him a scammer. Many of those point to the fact that Erik mentions buying a computer to help with the development of the game. I’m more inclined to agree with the comment that said, “I don’t think Erik is a scammer, I believe he is a naive idealist who didn’t understand what he was getting into.” (The phrase, “naive idealist who didn’t understand what he was getting into” would also describe his first outing on Survivor pretty well).
Consequences
In the aftermath, Erik went pretty quiet on Reddit for a while and views of him had turned negative among a portion of the fans. As memory of the Islands of Chaos debacle fades, his reputation has mostly returned to positive, helped by the fact that he’s semi-active in the subreddit and occasionally answers fan questions.
In April 2022, he did make a few comments about why the game failed (

Programmer #1 didn’t deliver what was promised and left with the lion share of money from the Kickstarter. Programmers 2-8 worked for no money (promise of revenue share) but none of those worked out. The KS goal was flawed from the start; my first programmer estimated it would be $8k worth of work, but later (year or two after the KS ended) I discovered that the real price to fulfill the stated goals was closer to $100k.
and
to follow up on this, I followed through as best I could and it created really terrible stress and financial problems for five years of my life. I tried learning programming myself to try and build it from scratch, brought in more and more devs, made custom art to appease high priced backers, and generally did everything I could think of to try to attract more investors (to bring on good developers I could pay). It was mentally and financially draining and I had to put a hard stop on it. I love the idea and think it’s a literal goldmine waiting to be claimed, but not without some initial game producer effort and an infusion of cash to start.
There are still occasional comments calling him a scammer, but there's often pushback on those. Mostly, it's not a topic of conversation anymore and everyone has moved on.
In regards to his past seasons, Fans vs. Favorites is widely considered one of the best seasons, while Fans vs. Favorites 2 is widely considered one of the worst. While Erik giving away immunity still comes up (particularly when new viewers see it for the first time), the article in the "A Life Lesson" section is the definitive summary and comments now are mostly, "wow, what a brilliant move by those women".
Erik isn't super highly ranked in terms of his Survivor skill, but few people have made it to the Final 5 twice with winning chances. While not a strategic mastermind, it seems like he was doing something right during the game.
After season 40 and a year-long Covid hiatus, Survivor has moved to what they call "the new era" of the show. There are far fewer references to early season and I can't recall any recent references to Erik giving away immunity. However, Fans vs. Favorites was on Netflix for most of 2022 and Survivor seems to have undergone a resurgence post-pandemic, so a whole new cohort of fans were introduced to Erik's infamous mistake.
Erik is still active in the Survivor community and
posts drawings to the subreddit after each episode.
He also sells Survivor related prints on his website. His top seller is

I highly recommend checking GO Battle Log every day or two for ideas, as they keep track aa the meta shapes and reshapes throughout the week. And of course, see what ideas YOU can come up with!

2023.03.29 21:18 WindowsXPHomeEdition I don't know if my mom is abusive (emotionally and physically)
Me (16F) and my (17M) brother have been through many bad experiences with our mom, but I don't know if she's abusive. Please read thoroughly to judge. The topics may be disoriented.
For the "emotionally", she mostly yells and insults us, but I feel that's justified because we tend to do astronomically stupid shit such as forgetting things like items and tasks. She has made several death threats to us such as "I wish you died of COVID", "I hope you kill yourself", and "I wish you were never born". I once told her about the time she told me to kill myself. She then asked the specific date she said it. I couldn't remember, therefore she didn't say it. Did I make that up? Were all of those insults and threats just my imagination? I hope to know if I wasn't so forgetful. She has also made threats about herself, most notably along the lines of "I hope I have a stroke and die". Because of it, I wished I was never born so she wouldn't have to deal with my stupidity.
For the "physically", she doesn't do it as much as she used to, but I still think about the chances of it happening. She punched my nose, causing it to bleed and having to lie to the doctor that I "got hit with a soccer ball". She once almost killed my brother with a kitchen knife, but he blocked it with a plastic trash can, where the scar remains. She once attacked me in some strange position where she laid on top of me trying to take away my phone, but my brother saved me from it. The only thing she still does to this day is hurt my brother. She would hit him, but it wouldn't affect him due to his strength. He's been scratched by her once before.
There was a time where we actually reported her to CPS. I was in 5th grade and she threw a shoe at my brother that morning, causing me to have a bad mood. At my school (at the time), the principal greets everyone that enters. She saw that I was in a bad mood and wanted to talk to me about it. I tried to make an excuse that "I'm going to be late for class". She took me to her office and asked me to tell her what happened. The one thing that caused an entire "saga" is when I was actually honest. After I told her, I was sent to class after the late bell rung. My brother did the same, only to someone else in a library. In a few days, when we were walking home, we saw a card on the door for CPS and we knew what was gonna come. Someone from CPS came to our house, inspected our rooms, and had a talk with our mom. From that moment, it ruined her life. To this day, she brings that up and threatens to call CPS to take us away and be separated if we do something bad.
This part is gonna talk about miscellaneous topics. Our mom used to threaten to send us to our uncle's house which is somewhat far away from ours. She would tell us to pack our stuff, but don't pack any electronics. We would stand by the door, waiting for our uncle to pick us up, only to not be picked up and be sent back to our rooms. Every time it happened, it always happened in the middle of the night. It was so strange. I thought about what our new school district would be if it ever happened. There were also times where when she was mad in the car, she would threaten one or both of us to get out of the car. One time, my brother actually did. Mom drove around for a bit before picking him up. Again, it always happened in the middle of the night.
She did other things like make us stay up late just to get lectured, mess up our room when we're somewhere else and making us clean it up, messing up our room in front of us making us clean it up, I once accidentally dropped my Nintendo 3DS while we were getting inside the house and my mom grabbed it and threw it on the floor, breaking it (don't worry I have a new one, it's the 3rd 3DS I have). I honestly feel that all of this is justified because we're lazy, forgetful, and don't do very well in school. Also, this stuff doesn't happen every day. It usually lasts 2 days unless we do something stupid again in those 2 days. After those 2 days, if we don't do something stupid, she's nice again. She has apologized exactly three times and I always think those apologies aren't genuine. I keep thinking I have trauma when it was always our fault. I don't want to call my mom narcissistic or abusive because I love her. When she isn't angry at us, she's a great person to be with. I haven't told everything because I feel that not everything that happened can fit into entire paragraphs. My question still remains. Is my mom emotionally and physically abusive? Am I just sensitive and lazy? Are we very spoiled? Please let me know. It's a very confusing situation.

2023.03.29 21:17 TypicalTreehugger 30 [M4F] UK/Online - Looking for a genuine connection with someone
Good day people!
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure how to write posts like this here, but I'd absolutely love to find someone to connect with. Hopefully, someone reading this will find something to relate to, if you did - drop me a message! :)
I'll start by saying I'm not someone desperately looking for affection, I was somewhat of a 'lone wolf' most of my life, and I've learned to be completely fine with it, and truthfully - I am. But lately I've grown to realise that it would actually be nice to have someone to create new experiences, memories and share them together. I find it very important to be able to form a connection with someone, I've learned that it's an awful feeling when you are with someone with whom you constantly feel careful about what you say, do and can't be fully yourself. I've always been someone who tries to find a laugh in everything, so a sense of humour is a big deal for me.
Here's a little about me - I am 30 years old, white, have hazel eyes, 6"2 in height and I currently live in a small country in Eastern Europe.
I'm naturally super curious as a person, I constantly listen to various podcasts or watch documentaries and I'd like to think I can hold a conversation about plenty of different topics. It comes to the point where I feel like I have so much information in my head, but majority of it is at a very shallow level. A lot of people must feel that way too - like having awareness and understanding on a vast number of different topics, but only on a surface level.
Outside of that I love nature and animals a lot, and when I say a lot I mean it - it hurts me deeply when I see tree branches being cut. On the other hand, I do have a bit of a nerdy side too, for example I love Lord of the Rings and fantasy worlds in general, and one of my items on my bucket list is to one day release my own book. I know gaming is a big thing nowadays, and I might have been called a gamer years ago, but, unfortunately, I had to pretend to be an adult at some point of my life and cut the gaming drastically. Not against it tho.
I would also say I am extremely open-minded as a person and non-judgemental at all, I always try to understand the other side, and what they may be experiencing internally before comitting to judgement. Also, very clumsy and I prefer cold over hot.
ANYWAY, hopefully this caught someones attention and if you'd fancy to have a chat with this internet stranger who eats sushi with hands and occasionally hugs trees - drop me a message! :)
