2023.03.26 00:21 InstructionNo1126 Need Suggestions
Hello everyone! I am sure that you guys have seen some posts from me before but this time I just need community input on a certain object. I am adding shadows Pokémon into my game and I have already decided a few that are gonna be catchable Shadow Pokémon such as Charmander, Klink, Illumise, and Articuno. Here is what I need an opinion on. For default shiny odds in my game I have it set to 1 in 100 and there is no shiny charm. This includes the odds of legendaries being shiny, so shiny hunting shouldn’t be too difficult for those players that would want to do it. Now here comes my dilemma, since I made Articuno a shadow Pokémon, he doesn’t have a chance to be shiny which may deter some shiny hunters. Since it is canon in my game that some shadow Pokémon are just clones of others and not real ones. Should I say that the shadow Articuno isn’t the real one and the real one could still be out in the world to capture and has that chance to be shiny??? Or should I just say that only that shadow Articuno is catchable and there is no other Articuno for the players to catch?? I hope this all made sense and I’m open to suggestions about this.

- Community Name: The Ebonwing Court
- ESO Chapter Name: Cult of Cthulhu
- Motto: Not for oneself but for all
- Server: PC-NA
- Community Focus: Maintaining a tight-knit community that will thrive for years to come.
- Gameplay Focus: PvX
- State of Progression: Newly Established Guild
- Discord: https://discord.gg/A4GjxfXcFh
- Point of Contact: Crowley
- Recruitment Status: Open
About Us: The Cult of Cthulhu is the Elder Scrolls Online Chapter of The Ebonwing Court - (EWC), an adult gaming community founded in late 2013. Led by our eccentric leader, we are a multi-gaming community full of like-minded individuals who share the same passion, gaming. We pride ourselves on being a well-established, drama-free multi-purpose community that aims to be respected throughout the Tamriel community. We have a wonderful, diverse crowd amongst our ranks, with players from across the country. We strongly believe in a guild-first atmosphere here and are confident that this approach will lead to our success.
Our players take much pride in not only our gaming but our role-play, so if you desire a well-established, well-respected guild to call home, read on and see if we are right for you! At this stage, you are probably wondering if you should join our guild. Am I right? “Of course I am.” You ask yourself,”' But what can this guild offer me? What separates this guild from the rest? What will they expect of me?” Well, let me help you answer these questions.
Areas of Focus: PvX
Player vs Environment — Our main focus will be PvE. With a main and a secondary raid team, we plan on progressing in all open world and instanced dungeons, trials, and raids, eventually clearing all the end game content as it is released.
We encourage company members to actively help and aid each other to provide a more beneficial community and help the company and its members thrive in a friendly and helpful social guild. We don't shun ''lone wolves'' however, we do ask that aid be given where needed if possible.
Player vs Player — We as a company will participate in all aspects of PvP, including but not limited to, Dueling, Cyrodiil, Battlegrounds, organized PvP Events, and the like. In the event of hostile player aggression, we will always try diplomacy and economical solutions to resolve a situation first. However, we will not shy away from a more drastic approach.
The choice is truly up to the guild member on how much or how little they wish to participate in PvP. This is also the case with RP.
Role-playing — As a thriving community, we have many members who actively engage in post-by-post role-playing and have discord channels dedicated to those who wish to engage in the pastime, from improv to organized fictional company meetings and operations. Many of the company members have very extensive and imaginative back-stories, and everyone is more than welcome to participate.
However, this does not supersede our priority as a PvX guild. We accept it with open arms until the time comes when we organize group events and such, but the role-playing side of our guild is vast, and we encourage participation.
Membership Requirements: - We play on the PC North American Megaserver. However, we will take in players from all around the world as well. (A fluent level of English is needed.)
- You must be at least 21 years of age in order to be eligible for membership.
- Voice chat on
Discord will be required for organized PvE & PvP events. You aren’t required to speak, but listening in is a must.
Applying For Membership: - Players may apply by expressing interest in our Discord server.

2023.03.26 00:19 Lady-Nora An appreciation letter to the Brawl Stars dev team
So, I want to start off by saying that if you're part of the Supercell community, you've likely heard of the upcoming update to Clash Royale and the extremely negative community reception to it, and the lack of communication from the Clash Royale dev team.
I wanted to write this to say that I am impressed with the way you guys have always listened to the playerbase and made changes according to player feedback, unlike the Clash Royale dev team. I quit Clash Royale to start playing Brawl Stars at the time of global release, and have seen firsthand how the game has evolved over the years. I played during the time that Gears were considered the worst feature in the game by far, and saw how the dev team communicated with the community and took steps to fix the issue. I've also seen how they gave us much more compensation than we needed in the update where gears were reworked, gotten all the free gifts from Brawlidays and other events, and watched them revamp the RNG-based progression system to a much more fair and arguably more exciting progression system, and most recently I've been very impressed with the Masteries update and have had more fun with that update than I ever had before in the game.
Your transparency and open communication have been truly remarkable, and it is clear that you have put in a lot of effort to ensure that the game is enjoyable for everyone. While the game is by no means perfect, it is truly impressive to see the way you have taken the community's suggestions and implemented them into the game, constantly improving upon its gameplay, progression, and overall user experience.
Once again, thank you
u/Frank_Supercell,
u/Dani_Supercell, and Paula (I forgot what her Reddit username was lol) for listening to your community and for all the hard work that you have put in to make Brawl Stars such a great game. I look forward to seeing what else the dev team has in mind for the game, and I am excited to continue playing and supporting it!

plan is to take off from PAO, do bayshore transition into class B, then tour golden gate bridge and if there is time fly up north for a look at point reyes, in term of SF to point reyes route, is it wise to fly along the coast? How's the weather usually over there? never been the places north of SF and would like to have the whole flight wrapped up in 2 hours.
Any tips/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

2023.03.26 00:17 thecompguru Voluntary community association non-profit Virginia
I have an a non-profit entity 'HOA' who amended the original declarations from 1980 when they came up for renewal period with a majority vote in 2011. Amendment states they are voluntary and intend to go mandatory. They are not CICB registered, but are a non-profit entity by the name of 'X homeowners association'. They have consumed 1600 homes with their CC&R and ACC and are run by old money white flight. I see issues with highly selective non compliance enforcement. ACC threatened verbal harm on my person when he was discovered sneaking into my yard. They seem to have several conflict of interests and no common community areas. Within this area there is another CICB HOA that exists to manage a lake and membership. They claim membership is mandatory, but dues are not, but its very unclear. We have never participated, or communicated in the short time we have been here. We were not made aware of covenants or hoa as verified by our sales contract stating it is not in an hoa and no paperwork of cc&r or hoa before purchase, including closing docs. It appears the previous owner is liable but there is the other issue that its not even a true hoa even though they claim to be exactly that.
I am unable to get responses from lawyers as they probably all represent the HOA's and have a conflict of interest. I had one consult and he was trash. This hoa is sueing over a petty matter as well that is of little concern to me as I am in the clear by their own rules.
Help I need to find a real estate lawyer that knows this unusual kind of stuff and is interested in helping me attempt to dissolve this HOA. Or some solid advice as i am a big researcher.

2023.03.26 00:16 genericname1211 I hate life so much
I don’t care if anyone reads. I just wanted to get this out there
I (21) don’t even entirely understand what I’m doing wrong.
I just keep messing up. I’ve hurt people. I lost friends because in the haze of my mental illness I’ve driven them away. We were just kids. And I couldn’t keep a lid on it, and traumatized them. And a part of me still hates them for how they treated me. But I deserved it. I was a little fucking asshole. And I suppose I probably haven’t changed much. I still keep fucking up. I try as hard as I can to be a better person. But it’s never enough. I was despicable to my best friend. She was going through an abusive relationship, and at the same time I felt like she made no time for me. What the fuck was wrong with me?!? What the actual fuck?!? Holy shit I hate myself so much. My ex, I tried to completely do things differently. And I did everything I could to be better. I always put them first. And I was always there for them. And I went out of my way. But I wasn’t good enough to get the same treatment. They made new friends and then… I barely existed. I always fuck up at any job I have. I get overwhelmed and then my brain stops working and then I make stupid decisions. My dad passed away when I was 3 and I was emotionally neglected for my whole childhood. And now I’m verbally and emotionally and even sometimes physically abused by my sister. She’s 18 and I’m older. And I’m just so pathetic. I try to stand up for myself and she just berates me for how worthless, pathetic, and much of a disappointment I’ve turned out to be. She’s been doing this to me for years. No one stops it. And I’m always the one who has to back off and shut up and leave. I always have to just take it. I probably deserve it. For the harm I’ve caused. For just existing the way I am. I deserve it. I have never felt loved, or worthy. No matter what I’ve always been alone. And I hate being told other people feel these things. Or that I’m not alone. Or other people have it worse. No fucking shit. I don’t know how it’s supposed to make me feel better knowing others are suffering. To know others feel levels of absolute revulsion towards themselves. I don’t want others to feel that way. I wish I was the only person suffering. I hate the way I feel. Why would I feel good to know others feel that way?? I fucking hate this life. I fucking hate the way the world is treating people who are part of the minority on any scale. I fall into that. And I just don’t see how things will get any better. The world is burning, the people in power are destroying communities they see as immoral, and things are only getting worse. I fucking hate this life. I fucking hate myself. I feel like I’m fucking losing my mind. I can’t take it anymore

2023.03.26 00:16 IAmBlueNebula Functional Programming and Maths <> How can a code monkey learn Agda?
I'm one of those code monkeys who loves to code, to develop software and to tinker with it, but is not really interested in math.
I'm addicted to code, both in imperative and in functional/declarative style. The functional programming world feels conceptually superior to me: it offers better abstractions and the community is much more knowledgeable on average. However an issue I have with it, is how mathy it is. I'm not afraid of Greek letters, but most material about FP seems to target math majors who are new to programming. Instead of leveraging my passion and the knowledge I already have, it explains stuff in a way I neither understand or enjoy. I understand that the "conceptual superiority" probably correlates with math, and I appreciate that you developed all those beautiful theories; but I'm not interested in them myself.
Anyways. With mainstream FP languages like Haskell, a well determined code monkey is able to find their way and learn whatever they need, with a little bit of efforts. But recently I've developed a curiosity about Dependent Types, and that path feels unapproachable. For absolutely no reason.
I've seen how one can use Dependent Types to implement a first-class type-safe printf without any tricks. And I love that shᴉt. And DTs seem to have so many other cool tricks up their sleeves that are great for the kind of general-purpose programming I do: a brilliant solution to coherence; a better version of type families/type level programming; and who knows what else.
However a code monkey like me can't simply approach DTs. I'm trying to learn some Agda, but everything is about proofs. I really couldn't care less about proving. I understand how important it is; I understand why DTs and proving are tightly related; but I just neither enjoy nor care about it at all. I just want to understand whether they can turn some of my void* or template-template-parameters into something nicer.
With this aimless rant I have two goals. 1. I'd love to start a conversion about code-monkey awareness: many others from my troop would venture into your cities if the approach I'd call bottom-up (from pointers to higher-order abstractions) was more readily available: the top-down approach (from mathematical concepts to code) scares many of us away. 2. How can I leverage my programming-language polyglottony to understand Dependent Types without hearing about a proof ever again?

2023.03.26 00:15 dizzydaizy89 Did anyone here manage to do fieldwork in a remote place for their PhD? Or join a research expedition to a remote environment? How was your experience?
I've just wrapped up my first year PhD coursework and now I'm embarking on developing my main project. I'm interested in designing one that is more exploratory in nature (focused on marine ecology, coastal communities, and climate science). I'm curious about the experiences of other fellow PhD students/grads who have worked in remote environments or joined research expeditions for their research projects - how did you do it?
My supervisor worked in the remote Pacific islands, and I'm encouraged to build my research project on his experience and connections, and is also supportive of me branching out and developing my own research project elsewhere. Fieldwork is the one of the parts of my PhD that I'm very excited to embark on, but I realize that it's also one of the more challenging and unpredictable aspects of it. Thanks!

2023.03.26 00:15 omsw I told GPT-4 to rant Indie Hackers ;)
Ah, indie hackers, where do I even begin? They're supposed to be these inspiring examples of innovation, right? Champions of the underdog, the independent thinkers, and the scrappy entrepreneurs. But sometimes, it feels like they're missing the mark.
First of all, let's talk about how everyone seems to think they're an indie hacker just because they have a side project. I mean, come on! Just because you're working on something after hours doesn't automatically make you an indie hacker. There's a huge difference between dabbling in something and actually building a sustainable business. It's time to stop romanticizing the term.
And then there's the whole "I built this in a weekend" mentality. It's great that you can throw together a basic app or website in a couple of days, but what about the long-term vision? So many indie hackers are focused on these short-term wins and hacks, but they don't take the time to think about what their project could become. That's just selling themselves short.
Next, let's discuss the echo chamber that indie hacker communities can become. Everyone's congratulating each other for every little achievement, creating a bubble that inflates their sense of accomplishment. Constructive criticism and honest feedback can be hard to find, leading to a false sense of security in one's own ideas.
The emphasis on making money is another issue. Yes, I get it, you need to monetize your project to keep the lights on, but it often feels like that's the only thing that matters. The passion for creating something genuinely useful or innovative sometimes takes a back seat to generating revenue. Indie hackers need to remember that long-term success is built on creating value and solving real problems, not just chasing dollar signs.
Moreover, the indie hacker movement seems to perpetuate the myth of the lone wolf entrepreneur. This can be detrimental, as it can lead to a lack of collaboration and diversity in thought. Some of the best innovations come from people working together, sharing ideas, and challenging each other's perspectives. By promoting the idea that you can only be a "true" indie hacker if you're going it alone, we're stifling potential growth and creativity.
Another problem is the sheer number of copycat projects. Indie hackers are often inspired by other successful projects, but sometimes this leads to endless iterations of the same idea, with little originality. While it's perfectly fine to learn from others, true innovation requires thinking outside the box and bringing something new to the table. We need more trailblazers, not just followers.
Lastly, the focus on overnight success stories can create unrealistic expectations for aspiring indie hackers. We hear about the breakout hits, but rarely do we hear about the countless projects that fail, or the years of hard work that often precede any success. This can lead to a "get rich quick" mentality, causing people to jump from project to project in search of instant gratification, rather than committing to the hard work necessary to build something truly great.
While the indie hacker movement has undoubtedly created opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, it's essential to recognize its shortcomings. By addressing these issues, indie hackers can strive for long-term success, collaboration, and genuinely innovative projects that make a lasting impact.

2023.03.26 00:13 Different-Ant-2403 Newbie for related / end user jobs :)
Hello , I know this gets asked a lot so bear with me .
I am a newbie to salesforce . I have almost completed an advanced admin 6 month course . This is through an authorized trailhead academy geared at mothers upskilling . It's been great , there's one to one mentoring , lots of real life homework assignments and 50 hours of volunteer work at a SF consulting group.
I am a former social worker , who has been in a low level managerial position for about 2 years . I work for an online business that supports mental health professionals to run their businesses. I do have end user SF experience through the VOIP system we use .
I have stayed at this job due to my spouse being active duty. , I needed something flexible due to moving and being the primary parent . I have completed my BA and I am working on my MBA . I am using all the opportunities provided on vet force as well .
I guess my question is what jobs/ titles are related to SF ? I'm not going into this expecting an admin job with high pay out the get go . I also think given the stakes I wouldn't want to be an admin and mess up anyone's org . I genuinely do love learning salesforce and would love to gain experience in other positions that use salesforce :) thank you for your time and this community .

2023.03.26 00:12 dmmdoublem Bringing empty, reusable water bottles into Oracle Park
Hey, all.
I've heard some conflicting information about weather or not fans are allowed to bring empty, reusable water bottles (like Hydroflasks) into Oracle Park.
The Giants website makes it sound like aluminum or stainless steel water bottles are not allowed, even if they're empty. However, I have a friend who's apparently been bringing an empty Hydroflask into the park for years without issue.
So, I'm curious to know if anyone on here can corroborate that. Have you been able to bring those types of bottles into Oracle in recent years? Has anyone at the entry gates ever hassled you about them?
I realize I'm probably overthinking this, but as someone who takes public transit to a lot of games, I'd hate to be in a situation where I'd have to choose between throwing away a reusable water bottle or traveling all the way home to drop it off there (thanks, Giants, for not offering a bag/item check!).
