2022.12.22 21:26 Random_Houseplant21 Are Co-Signer Requirements Common?
As I get a feel for housing around SLO looking on the Facebook group, Craigslist, etc. I was wondering if most rooms and places typically require a co-signer? I don’t have one and so I’m wondering how easy/difficult it is to find a place without one around here.
I’m also weighing the option of living in my car, but this is more of a last resort option if housing costs ends up being unreasonable haha.

2022.08.29 18:07 cpjouralum People vs Flores - Day 18
August 29, 2022 - Department 4 - Monterey County Superior Court - Jurors just filed into the courtroom, and before the family could be seated, everyone was asked to leave again. Attorneys apparently not ready yet. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
First witness: Ed, retired builder - Deputy DA Christopher Peuvrelle calls Ed **** at 9:40am. Ed built Ruben Flores’ house in 1991, on a 2-acre parcel he purchased and split into two lots. Ed says Ruben and Susan Flores agreed to buy the future house before it had even been built. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: “Do you see either Susan or Ruben Flores in this courtroom today?” Ed: “Well, I see Ruben.” (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle hands a photo exhibit to Ed. Peuvrelle: “Do you recognize this photo as the house you built?” Ed: “Yes, I’ve seen this before.” Peuvrelle: “May I please have the photo back?” Ed: “No.” Everyone laughs. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Ed says he was the general contractor on the project, and did as much of the work as he could on his own, to save money. Peuvrelle asks Ed if he or his team found any buried bodies when building the property. Ed says they did not. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Ed says if a body had been found, they would have had to stop the job and make the city aware, and they would send someone to investigate. Peuvrelle: “During construction, were there any injuries to you or your crew?” Ed: “No. Nobody got hurt.” (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- When asked by prosecuting attorney Chris Peuvrelle if Ed had found any human bodies, primates, monkeys, or ferrets in the ground during construction, he said no. Ed also said that there were no significant injuries during the construction process. (KEYT)
- On cross-exam, Defense Attorney Robert Sanger asks Ed about who he purchased the property from, who the street was named after, and where Ed’s house was located. Ed says the property was previously an avocado orchard. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Ed said he isn’t sure how many trees were removed from the lot when the home was built, but that builders had to dig deeper in some areas because of soil conditions to ensure there was a solid foundation. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- Defense attorney Robert Sanger asked several questions about the construction process during cross-examination. He projected several pictures of the building plans in the courtroom, including a grading plan and site plan map. (KEYT)
- Ed says the house took about 6 months to build, and was completed in August 1991. Sanger publishes 28 photos of Ruben Flores' house during construction. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger went through photos depicting the house being built without the deck and then showing the deck under construction. (KEYT)
- He then displayed a pair of photos taken within the last two years showing the deck being removed from the house and asked about a drainage valve and vents that could be seen on the exposed side of the house. (KEYT)
- Sanger asks Ed if he used pink nylon twine to lay lines for the masonry work. Ed says he used twine for everything, but did not recall which color he used during this project. Sanger holds up a spool of pink twine and asks Ed if it was similar to what he used. Ed says yes. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger gave Ed a new roll of nylon pink string, which is used to make sure construction is being built straight. He asked if this was similar to the string he used for the construction of the White Court house. Ed said that pink was his favorite color to use. (KEYT)
- Sanger also asked Ed if he’d ever used diesel fuel as a “release agent” to help the concrete from sticking to the construction forms. Ed said it was a common practice in the ’90s and that he'd sometimes used it. (KSBY)
- Ed says when digging to build the foundation of the house, he hit rock. In order to avoid differential settling, he dug down to the rock layer and filled the area with slurry (a mixture of cement and sand) to even it out, before building concrete stem walls for the foundation. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Ed explained the area was made up of soil on top of rock, so the footings had to be dug down to the rock in all areas. He said the height of the crawl space varied because of the slope under the house, but that you could easily stand up on some areas. (KSBY)
- Sanger: "When someone removed the avocado trees, did they just cut them off, or did they dig down and remove the root ball?" Ed: "They removed the root ball." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger also asked several questions the jury submitted for the witness including what the soil conditions were like under the deck, why the footings had to be so deep and how tall the crawl space under the house and deck were. (KSBY)
- A juror submits a question: "How tall is the crawlspace under the house?" Ed: "I used to be 6'2", and I had no problem standing up under the house. Perhaps 7 feet." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Another juror submits a question: "How deep did you have to dig before you hit rock?" Ed: "As I recall, it was about 8 feet." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Ruben’s attorney, Harold Mesick, asked Ed about whether the house was connected to a septic or a sewer system and where cleanouts were located, again presumably to explain some of the items found during the search. (KSBY)
- Defense Attorney Harold Mesick: "You did a good job on that house. I've been in it. It's very nice." Ed: "Thanks. I was gonna say that, but I thought it was a little much." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle, on re-direct: "How many people helped you build the deck area?" Ed: "Two. My son and my brother." Peuvrelle: "Just the two of them?" Ed: "No, and me! I'm still the carpenter." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger, on cross-exam: "Did the 3 of you also build that retaining wall [under the deck]?" Ed: "Yes." Ed was excused at 11:45am. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
Second witness: David, former tenant of Ruben Flores - A former tenant, David ****, who lived with Ruben for 10 years testified about his time in the house from 2010 to 2020. (KSBY)
- David rented a room in Ruben Flores' home from October 2010 through 2020, after responding to an ad on craigslist. David indicates that his bedroom door led to the deck area. Photo (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "In the time you lived there, did you ever hear anything about Kristin Smart?" David: "I'd heard the name." Peuvrelle: "Did you ever hear Ruben Flores–" Sanger: "Objection! 402s." Judge O'Keefe calls a sidebar. After 2 minutes, all parties agree to break for lunch. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "Was there a time when there was a plumbing issue?" David: "There was a leak under the kitchen sink. The plumber said he needed to go underneath the house to work on it, and Ruben told him to just forget it." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "Did you ever see anyone else besides Ruben go under the deck during the ten years you lived there?" David: "No." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "How did your tenancy come to an end?" David: "Ruben raised the rent, and I was planning to move to Texas." Peuvrelle: "Did it end on good terms?" David: "Yeah, me and Ruben always got along." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- He told jurors about a time when he moved a few empty plastic, 55-gallon drums into the space under the deck. David said Ruben was angry he hadn't asked for permission ahead of time and ultimately made him move the drums. (KSBY)
- He also testified he overheard Ruben referring to Kristin as an "*expletive slut." (KSBY)
- Under cross examination from both Sanger and Mesick, David said he got along with Ruben during his time at the home and moved out voluntarily. At one point, he said he’d asked Ruben about moving back in. (KSBY)
- When there was a leak in the kitchen that went under the house, Ruben Flores told a plumber who came to fix the leak to leave instead of allowing him access under the house, David testified. (KEYT)
- Harold Mesick, Ruben Flores’ lawyer, said that was because Paul Flores was able to fix the issue and his father may not have wanted to pay a plumber. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- David said that he had to ask permission to go underneath the deck. “It was his house, his rules,” he said of Flores. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- The jury deciding Paul Flores’ verdict then left the courtroom so that Ruben Flores’ jury could hear testimony that only pertained to the older man’s case. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- Peuvrelle: "Was there a time you were walking down the hallway and heard Ruben Flores having a telephone conversation referencing Kristin Smart?" (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- “I only heard ‘Kristin’ — no last name — and ‘f-ing slut,’” David replied, saying he heard the slur once when he was leaving the house. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- David testified he wasn’t sure if it was Ruben Flores who had said it or the person to whom Flores was talking. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- David: "It could have been Ruben. It could have been another person." Peuvrelle: "What did you hear him say?" David: "I heard 'Kristin', and then I heard 'a fucking slut'. That's all I heard. It could have been any Kristin." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle looks very confused and takes a long pause while looking down at his lectern. Peuvrelle: "Has anyone from the defense team come to speak with you in the last year or so?" David: "No." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle asked David if he remembered telling San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Detective Clint Cole in Feb. 2021 that Ruben Flores called Smart a “dirty slut all the time,” to which David replied he hadn’t. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- Peuvrelle: "Did you tell Detective Cole that 'Ruben always called Kristin a dirty slut'?" David: "I don't remember that." Peuvrelle shows David a transcript of his 2021 interview with Detective Cole. Peuvrelle: "Does that refresh your memory?" David: "I don't remember that." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "How close are you and Ruben Flores?" David: "I was a tenant." Peuvrelle: "Would you rent from him again?" David: "No. He complained a lot." Peuvrelle asks for a sidebar. After 3 minutes, all parties return and Judge O'Keefe asks David to step out of the courtroom. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- David was briefly excused and Peuvrelle then called Cole to the stand. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
Third witness: Detective Clint Cole - Peuvrelle calls San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Detective Clint Cole to the stand. Peuvrelle: "On February 24, 2021, did you speak with David ****?" Cole: "Yes." Peuvrelle: "Was that interview audio recorded?" Cole: "It was." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "Did David **** tell you, quote: 'Ruben always called Kristin Smart a dirty slut'?" Cole: "He did." Detective Cole was excused at 1:54pm, and David returned to the courtroom, along with Paul Flores' jurors. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Cole said that he had recorded and accurately transcribed his interview with David and testified David had told him that Ruben Flores often called Smart a “dirty slut.” (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
David testimony continued - Defense Attorney Robert Sanger, on cross-exam: "You said you stored two 55-gallon tanks under the deck?" David: "Plastic barrels." Sanger: "So you weren't restricted from going underneath the deck, were you?" David: "No, he got mad at me." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "Do you have a good friend named ****?" David: "Well, she's a girlfriend of a friend." Sanger: "And she's a friend of the podcaster?" David: "I don't know if they're friends. They talked." Sanger: "But she directed you to the podcast?" David: "She told me about it." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "And the billboard was up the whole time you were living there?" David: "Yes." Sanger: "Did you read about the case online?" David: "I've looked it up." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "And you told law enforcement that the FBI had never searched under the house, but you didn't know that for a fact, did you?" David: "No, I didn't." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Defense Attorney Harold Mesick: "You said you and Ruben always got along?" David: "Most of the time." Mesick: "Did you end up moving to Texas?" David: "Yes, for 4 or 5 months." Mesick: "But you talked to Ruben after that about moving back in?" David: "Yes." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Mesick: "But when the DA asked you, you said you wouldn't rent from him again." David: "Not now, I wouldn't." Mesick: "Did you ever pick an avocado off of the trees?" David: "I don't think so. Ruben would give them to you in the house." David was excused at 2:21pm. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
Fourth witness: Detective Matt Terrell - On February 5, 2020, Detective Terrell participated in the execution of a search warrant at Ruben Flores' home. One of his duties during this search was to take pictures of the residence. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's detective Matthew Terrell took the stand and testified that he was part of a search of the property in February 2020. He said that during the search, teams found several documents, fliers, and newspaper articles related to the case. (KEYT)
- Terrell says the search took approximately two hours. Peuvrelle asks to publish photos Terrell took during the search, but Sanger objects: "Relevance and other grounds." Mesick joins the objection. Judge O'Keefe overrules the objection. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle publishes a photo showing the side yard on the right hand side of Ruben Flores' house, which leads to the backyard. On February 5, 2020, a fence blocked off this area. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "In the bedroom, did you find any items related to Kristin Smart?" Terrell: "Yes, we located newspaper articles, letters. Some other items." Pictured are items related to Kristin Smart, all located in Ruben Flores' bedroom. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Pictured below are the contents of a drawer in Ruben Flores' bedroom, including a SLO Tribune article about Kristin Smart, a poster for a high school Kristin Smart essay contest, and the handwritten names of the winners of that contest. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Defense Attorney Robert Sanger, on cross-exam: "Ruben Flores' house was pretty well-kept, wasn't it?" Terrell: "Generally." Sanger: "Were you aware that these flyers were distributed and used aggressively towards Mr. Flores?" Peuvrelle objects, but is overruled. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Terrell: "I'm aware that they were put up around the community." Sanger: "You were aware that this case would come up in the press?" Terrell: "It was a public case, yes." Sanger: "And it would tend to pop up on election years for the Sheriff or DA?" (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle objects, but is overruled. Terrell: "I don't know the frequency." Sanger: "Do you recall the press being present and taking pictures when Ruben Flores was arrested?" Terrell: "I don't recall when the press showed up." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "And [the arrest] was in 2021, when the Sheriff and DA were both facing opposition?" Peuvrelle objects that the question is argumentative, and the Judge sustains. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- The defense attorneys for both Paul and Ruben Flores indicated that Ruben Flores was the subject of hate mail and harassment over the years, pointing to some of the items found during the search. (KEYT)
- Defense Attorney Harold Mesick: "Are you aware that my client has received thousands of pieces of hate mail?" Peuvrelle objects – lack of personal knowledge – but is overruled. Terrell: "I'm not aware of that." Detective Terrell was excused at 2:49pm. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
Fifth witness: Jamilyn, neighbor of Ruben Flores - Monday wrapped up with a neighbor of Ruben Flores testifying about what she described as strange activity during February of 2020. (KSBY)
- Jamilyn **** says she heard lots of arguing and other noise as Ruben and Susan Flores along with Susan's boyfriend removed part of a fence and then parked a cargo trailer next the house all after dark. (KSBY)
- Jamilyn testifies that she lives within eyesight of Ruben Flores' home. In February of 2020, four days after a search warrant was served, Jamilyn observed "unusual activity" at the Flores home, which she documented. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Jamilyn said she heard “yelling” and saw vehicles outside Flores’ home that she hadn’t seen before on Feb. 9, about a week after the FBI searched the home. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- On the evening of February 9, 2020, Jamilyn says she heard "a lot of loud yelling" from Ruben Flores' property, and observed a cargo trailer, a travel trailer, a red SUV, and a white van. In the driveway, she says she saw Ruben Flores, Susan Flores, and Mike McConville. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Some of the yelling was related to trying to back the cargo trailer into the garage, Jamilyn said, adding that she did not know everything that was said. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- She assumed the vehicles remained parked on the property overnight because they were still there in the morning, which was unusual, she said. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- Susan Flores’ red SUV was seen regularly at Ruben Flores’ house at the beginning of 2020 and is seen only occasionally now, Jamilyn said. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- The frequency of sightings of the car increased with the release of the “Your Own Backyard” podcast, which examines Smart’s disappearance, she testified. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- Peuvrelle: "Are you familiar with 'the podcast'?" Jamilyn: "Yes." Peuvrelle: "Did Susan Flores begin frequenting Ruben Flores' house around the time the podcast was released?" Jamilyn: "Yes." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Jamilyn says on February 9th, 2020, she saw "a cargo trailer backed up to the garage, and the garage open, which I thought was unusual". She says Susan Flores was trying to back the cargo trailer into the space to the right of Ruben's garage, which leads to the backyard. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Jamilyn: "After the sun went down, I noticed that the cargo trailer and the red SUV had been pulled alongside the house." Peuvrelle: "Did you notice anything when you woke up?" Jamilyn: "All of the vehicles were still parked there. The red SUV, the white van, and the trailers." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "Had you ever seen any of those vehicles stay the night before February 9th?" Jamilyn: "No." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "And from your vantage point, you couldn't see what was happening in the backyard deck area?" Jamilyn: "No." Peuvrelle: "Have you seen the white van back at Ruben's house?" Jamilyn: "Yes. Frequently at first, and still occasionally." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Jamilyn isn’t a fan of cars honking outside after dark, she said, but didn’t have an objection to Ruben Flores living on her street. She said she does not know Susan Flores or McConville personally, but has had one conversation with Ruben Flores. (Chloe Jones, SLO Tribune)
- At one point in court, there was a heated exchange between Peuvrelle and Sanger. Sanger wanted to review some photos taken by Jamilyn and Peuvrelle said he'd already provided them. (KSBY)
- Peuvrelle hands Jamilyn several photos. Sanger: "Can I see those first?" Peuvrelle: "It's Exhibits #240-251." Sanger: "I'm asking to look at your copies." Peuvrelle: "That's why counsel has been provided with copies." Sanger: "Mr. Peuvrelle! You gave us 7 volumes of stuff!"
- Judge O’Keefe asked to speak with the attorneys in the hallway and when they came back, Sanger brought up several objections, all of which were overruled by Judge O'Keefe. The photos were ultimately admitted into evidence. (KSBY)
- Judge O'Keefe calls for a sidebar. Four minutes later, all parties return to the courtroom. Sanger: "I object to the photos. 352, undue consumption of time." Judge O'Keefe: "Overruled." Peuvrelle: "Do you recognize the exhibits?" Jamilyn: "They're photos from my phone." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "Objection. Duplicative, prejudicial, 352." Judge O'Keefe: "Overruled." Peuvrelle: "I know it's blurry, but what could you see when you took this photo?" Jamilyn: "The garage, with the red SUV pulling the trailer alongside the home." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle: "Have you seen who drives the red SUV?" Jamilyn: "Yes, Susan Flores." Peuvrelle: "What did you see the next morning?" Jamilyn: "The SUV with the cargo trailer alongside the house, and the white van and camper trailer parked up on the street. (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger, on cross-exam: "On February 9th, you see this activity with the trailers. You didn't get around to talking to law enforcement about this until when?" Jamilyn: "I believe March of 2021." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "And before you talked to Detective Cole, you had called the podcaster, Chris Lambert?" Jamilyn: "I had messaged him." Sanger: "You indicated to Chris Lambert, the podcaster, that you thought you saw something suspicious at Ruben Flores' house?" Jamilyn: "Yes." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "You didn't like Ruben Flores living on your street, did you?" Jamilyn: "I had no objection to that." Sanger: "You would just as soon see Ruben Flores live somewhere else?" Peuvrelle: "Objection, relevance." Sanger: "780, Your Honor." Judge O'Keefe: "It's sustained." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "You believed they were moving certain evidence out?" Jamilyn: "I didn't know what they were moving out, I just found it suspicious." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "In 2020, you did a declaration for the Smarts' attorney, Jim Murphy?" Jamilyn: "Not in 2020. May of 2021." Sanger: "Are you standing by everything in that declaration?" Jamilyn: "Yes." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Sanger: "Didn't you say they got it incorrect?" Jamilyn: "No, I didn't say that. The news reported it incorrectly." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Defense Attorney Harold Mesick: "What time did you go to bed on February 9th, 2020?" Jamilyn: "I couldn't say." Mesick: "What time do you usually go to bed?" Jamilyn: "I had insomnia and a 2 year-old at that point, so I can't say." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Mesick: "The declaration you signed – his office prepared that for you?" Jamilyn: "They typed it." Mesick: "Did you say you saw the Floreses working all through the night?" Jamilyn: "I don't believe my statement says that." Mesick: "But it's attributed to you in the press." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Jamilyn: "The news asserted that before I ever signed a declaration." Mesick: "Did you see the Floreses working all through the night?" Jamilyn: "No." (Chris Lambert, YOB)
- Peuvrelle, on re-direct: "At some point, you went to sleep that night, correct?" Jamilyn: "Yes." Jamilyn was excused at 3:52pm, and Peuvrelle said he had no further witnesses for today. We're back tomorrow morning at 10:30am. (Chris Lambert, YOB)

2022.08.29 11:13 GamenatorZ What should I look for in bikes in an area and situation where bike theft is an extreme likelihood? [sub-$ 200]
Hi,
I am about to start my next year of college in San Luis Obispo, a town well known for being nice for bike commutes. So if you're from that area your advice is doubly appreciated, although anything helps. Unfortunately, SLO is also known for a lot of bike theft. I have my own u-Lock and I plan to religiously lock the frame and front tire everywhere i park it.
Of course though, that isnt a 100% guarantee of safety, and there remains a high risk of theft. Because of this, I don't want to spend more than $200 on a bike. All I would need to use the bike for is commuting around town, (which is a little bit hilly), and perhaps every once in a while taking an hour-long ride to one of the nearby beaches.
My three main options seem to be:
to buy a bike from Craigslist or Facebook Market used, I Have found some decent options around the 120-160 range (ie.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/534600791711346? )
to buy a bike from local well known and reputable stores, there are a lot of these and a lot of nice repair shops that can teach repairs and where you can do your own repairs. They sometimes have full bikes on sale, and there are always full blown bike shops too. The thing is I am not sure of the prices of the bikes, they don't appear online, and i wouldn't be super optimistic on them being as low as the other two options.
to order one of the infamous walmart bikes as a delivery and assemble it if i need to.
My question is what would be the best choice for my needs? I want something reliable enough to do the things listed but cheap enough to not be a major loss if stolen.

2022.03.07 06:19 stnicholasofmerc Connecting with Cal Poly DJs
Hi,
Will take down if not the place for this. I'm getting married in SLO in the Fall and wanted to connect with a DJ from Cal Poly who'd be interested in this paid gig. Does anyone here do this or know how I can connect?
I'd rather hire someone from the university because you're probably more creative than someone I'd find on craigslist, or from some wedding registry, etc.
Thanks for any help.

Timestamps:
https://imgur.com/a/S4VufR4
I screwed up and bought a Gigabyte RTX 3080 (Gaming OC) Waterforce WB on Craigslist, but I don't have a water cooling setup. Brand new, never used. I opened it up, took one look at the waterblock, and realized my mistake.
I don't have the time (or money) to care for a custom loop, so I'm hoping to swap it with someone who does. I'm looking for a new/like new/lightly used RTX 3080 with regular air cooling.
Located in Central Coast area (SLO). I'd prefer local-ish, but shipping is ok.
Original box and packaging included. Happy to include more images if needed.
Please leave a comment before PMing.
Thanks so much in advance!

2022.01.03 05:51 aztecprince 2014 Ram 1500 for $15K… but it has 187K miles on it
Looking for a decent commute truck (drive about 30 miles/day) and this one caught my eye. It’s a 2014 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4x2 that looks nice on the outside but idk if I should gamble on a truck w super high miles for its age.
Is the price worth checking it out?

2021.08.15 22:59 mynameisdesantos Searching for housing
I know it’s probably a shot in the dark reaching out on Reddit for this sort of thing, but my partner and I are moving to SLO next month from out of state and are having an extremely hard time finding housing. We’ve been looking for the past month and have had very little luck getting responses from anyone or are ghosted shortly after the tour.
We’re looking for (at this point) basically anything under $2500, 1 bed+/1bath+ within a 30 minute bike ride of downtown SLO for September 1st. (We’re not considering Atascadero or any of the surrounding areas)
We’re chill outdoorsy people in our late 20s with a good rental history(5+ years) with 730+ credit and have a small dog and a cat.
If anyone happens to hear anything from friends/neighbors etc. that isn’t already on the usual Zillow/zumpeCraigslist/Facebook, please let me know.

2021.07.18 23:27 zoopest Crash Tower
I got a crash tower track from craigslist and played with it today. Managed to bend the crap out of two axles, but my wife and I were laughing so much from watching this crazy machine launch cars around our living room that it was totally worth it. Might have some slo-mo crashes to share if that's something people like here.

2021.06.19 08:42 recyclediva racist "motorcycle for sale" post on SLO craigslist
A few days ago, a friend sent me a link to a motorcycle for sale on craigslist that contained all kinds of racist language and images.
The title was "YD100 for Sale to Wh1tes only. YD100 to Cocks only."
There were 20 images with the post. Two were of his email signature with his name, company name, address, phone, email. Only one image looked like it related to the thing for sale: a photo of a guy (the poster himself?) standing in front of a motorcycle.
The rest were random photos and memes, most of them containing anti-Black and Mexican language, with a few mentions of "CA White Strong." There were also some disturbing black and white photos of a black man hanging, men in hoods in a car holding a noose, and a sign that says "We serve whites only."
The post ended with (copied exactly as it was written): "only whites allowed to call me. SEROUSLY. - Il sale to who i want to - SO dont bug if ur a bug"
I couldn't believe it hadn't already been flagged and taken down. I took screenshots and downloaded the images not knowing if I'd do anything with them ... just in case.
Since then, I've been debating whether I should post this guy's info or not. I don't want to get into any trouble, but he sure seemed proud to be racist and he posted an image of all his own information for all to see (at least for about 10 hours), so perhaps I should help him out and make sure more people see it?
Looks like his business sells to police departments and the military, so it's not like folks could boycott him.
Any advice/suggestions?

2021.05.25 06:29 bodvar11 Recent Grads looking for roommate/s near Redwood City
My name is Erik and my friend Robert and I are graduating from Cal Poly SLO with civil engineering degrees in June. We’re both 22 and are starting jobs for a civil engineering firm and general contractor in early August and are hoping to move into a house/apartment in Redwood city starting in July.
We are looking for a place preferably in Redwood City right between our jobs, but we are both willing to live anywhere from San Mateo to Mountain View if we find a great fit. We are looking at mainly 3-4 bedroom places on Zillow and Craigslist mostly, and ideally want to find a house. We’re hoping to find one or two additional roommates who would be interested in teaming up to live in and explore the area. We are trying to keep our budget at or under around $1500 each with some wiggle room for utilities. We’re both clean and respectful of common areas and are hoping to find some people with similar interests. Overall we’re both fairly outgoing and enjoy general outdoor activities and doing fun stuff. Here’s a little bit about ourselves:
Erik: I am a Chinese American originally from Sacramento, and am super excited to move to the Bay. I love playing basketball, volleyball (indoor or beach), tennis, and working out, usually doing a combination of these 5 or 6 times a week. I really enjoy cooking both individually and as a social activity and hope to find a place with a large kitchen and dining area. I am also interested in trying new restaurants and food while exploring around the Bay.
Robert: I grew up in Union City and enjoy going to the beach and camping and I’m hoping to find some fun weekend trips to do. Erik and I recreationally play pickup basketball often so living close to a park would be awesome. I enjoy playing piano and guitar and am planning to bring my keyboard to the new place. Overall I’m pretty laid back and enjoy going out and meeting new people.
Feel free to DM/comment if you’re interested in teaming up and finding a place together!

2021.05.05 06:54 DailyDimSum Moving from SLO to SD, suggestions for areas to live
Hello,
I am looking to move to SD this summer from SLO. I'm an engineer and I've been lucky enough to be able to work remotely. I am 29 years old. I am currently looking for a place with a garage as I need some shop space to be able to do some of my work. I really enjoy being able to walk to things, so if possible I would like to look in those areas. I have mainly been looking around the North Park area.
I'd like to keep by housing budget under $2k. I figured with a garage it might cost a bit more, or I would need a 2 bedroom.
I just had a few questions for ya'll:
- Do you have any recommendations for walkable areas outside of North Park?
- Are there any other places you suggest to look for housing in the area outside of craigslist and padmapper?
- How far in advance do people generally look to find a place? I am looking to move in at the end of June, but everything online and places that I contact seem to be looking for fill now til early June.
- Best taco place in town???
- Best surfing beaches?
- Does anyone know of any good climbing gyms?
I guess there were a bit more questions than I initially intended to ask, but yeah!
Anyways, Thanks I really appreciate any responses!

2021.01.10 23:42 FA-100 General Help with SLO Housing
Hi everyone, I am a recent grad from San Diego who is considering moving to the SLO area. I can't join the housing group on facebook without a university email, so I was hoping you guys could give me some info.
Right now in SD, a single room runs around $900-$1400, and one bedroom apartments are around $1800-2400. What are the prices like in the SLO area? As I am not a student, proximity to campus doesn't matter to me. What are some of the cheaper areas to live? How can I find suitemates, if needed? I'd prefer to live with university students or other recent grads rather than roll the dice somewhere like craigslist. I'm also wary of using Zillow or similar services because around here, it's far cheaper to move onto someone's existing lease than to contact the complex itself.
Thanks so much! I hope you guys are holding up under all the covid confusion.
